The Great Himalayan National Park is also situated here which can be a fun place for the wildlife enthusiasts. With many beautiful and nicely built temples like Hadimba Temple, Gayatri Temple, Raghunath Temple and many more, this place also calls for the pilgrim flocks. One can also indulge in shopping and buying fancy clothes and accessories from the Mall road which is quiet famous here.


Places To See


Hadimba Temple
The temple features prominently in all Manali advertisements. Several movies have also been shot here. The temple is dedicated to Hadimba Devi, a revered figure in Hindu mythology. It is constructed over a large rock that dates to 1553. Legend has it that the right hands of artisans who built the temple were amputated by the king. The calm, scenic surroundings add to the mystic experience.
Tip: While the temple attracts visitors throughout the year, it records the maximum footfall on 14th May when the birth anniversary of the presiding deity is celebrated.

Raghunath Temple
The temple houses an idol of Hindu deity, Raghunath Ji. It is said that the idol was taken from the Tretnath Temple of Ayodhya and was once worshiped by Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Club House
The Club House is very popular with the tourists as it hosts a number of outdoor and indoor activities. Inside the club, there is a library, auditorium, carom board room, and billiards room. You can also take advantage of the roller skating ring and once you have had your fill of activities, seek refreshment in the bar and restaurant.


Things To Do


Raison
At a height of 1433 km above sea level, Raison comprises of a few small villages, situated on the banks the Beas River. The place is a famous camping site allowing for numerous activities such as hiking, trekking, rock-climbing and white water rafting. Apple orchards and fruit gardens add to its scenic beauty.
Tip: The best time to visit is during the spring season when the entire region blooms with flowers.

Solang Valley
The valley is very popular with the skiers because of its 300 m high ski lift. It is also known as Snow Point. The Winter Skiing festival is held here every year. The valley is a magnet for the adventure sports enthusiasts. There are several activities on offer such as paragliding, skiing, zorbing and horse riding.

Rohtang Pass
A 51 kms drive from Manali will take you to the Rohtang Pass, which is known as the ‘highest jeepable road in the world. ’ Nestled at a height of 4111 m above sea level, the pass offers brilliant views of the surrounding mountains. Rohtang also serves as a base camp for several adventure activities in the surrounding areas including mountain biking, paragliding and skiing.
Tip: The Pass is only open from May to September. Prior permission from the state authorities is required to visit the Pass.

Beas Kund
The kund, or pond, takes its origin from the Beas River. Legend has it that the kund was used for bathing by Rishi Vyas. The kund is surrounded by stone foundations that serve as the base for trekking expeditions in the region. A dip in the kund is considered auspicious and a cure to various skin ailments.

Manali Wildlife Sanctuary
Spread across 31. 8 sq km, the Manali Wildlife Sanctuary houses several endangered species of animals and reptiles. While a trip inside the sanctuary may not reveal all the rare species, you will still be able to see a large number of animals in their natural habitat including the barking deer, Himalayan black bear, Kashmir flying squirrel, and the flying fox.

Bhrigu Lake
Nestled in the Great Himalayas, the lake holds great significance for the Hindus. Legend has it that Rishi Bhrigu used to meditate here. It is here that he wrote the Bhrigu Samhita, a manuscript of the records of the past and predictions of the future. A natural spring that originates from the lake adds music to the serene surroundings.
