About Paris Tourism

Offering a wide spectrum of sightseeing and other entertainment options, Paris tourism is a pure delight for every kind of traveler. The capital of France is one of the world’s most influential cities and also one of the most sought-after destinations in Europe. Blessed with splendid monuments, lush gardens, astonishing buildings, and sprawling streets, this place is quite popular amongst tourists for fashion, art, architecture, and local cuisines worldwide. Drawing a huge flock of tourists from all across the globe, tourism in Paris is not about dull moments at all!

On a tour to Paris, from the Catacombs to the top of the Eiffel Tower, there's a lot to explore in the City of Love. No matter how many times you have been to this wonderful city, Paris offers you something new every time you visit this place. Paris, the capital of France, is home to some of the oldest and most modern places with a twist of cultural blend. It's always a timeless experience to teeter along the cobbled streets and to shop for some souvenirs with a Paris travel guide. The charm of Paris cannot be matched with any other city in the world. It attracts millions of tourists every year who love it for its romanticism, historical monuments, buzzing streets, and extravagant shopping malls.

Sightseeing in Paris

The city of lights offers nothing less than a memorable experience with the marvelous structures, and amazing delicacies. At the Shangri-La hotel, a seasonal outdoor courtyard has been opened recently, and it is a great place to spend the afternoon time savoring French, or Asian dishes. As for Palais Galliera, the most fashion-forward museum offers exhibitions that showcase historical, as well as modern fashion designed by some of the famous designers. The Pont Alexandre III is one of the most beautiful bridges in France and it is decorated with ornate statues. Right from the fall of the Roman Empire to the French revolution, Christianity has remained dominant in Paris. And thus, many of the spiritual relics can be seen all across Paris.

Start your tourism in Paris with historical attractions. Notre Dame Cathedral is undoubtedly the most elegant gothic Cathedral in the world. And it is also quite famous, as tourists swarm to this place during almost all the seasons. The cathedral was started during the 12th century, and it took two centuries for the cathedral to get completed. Not too far from the Notre Dame, there rests yet another beautiful church with its glory spread all around. Built during the 13th century, this Cathedral isn't any less magnificent looking. The vibrant windows, glass panels, and paintings fill the cathedral with colors and offer the visitors a visual treat.

Carried on from generation to generation, each site holds a historical value. For instance, L'arc De Triomphe was built as a symbol of the French victory. And the underground tunnels in the Catacombs dates back to the Roman period. Take a tour to the burial places and museums, including St-Denis Basilica and Royal Necropolis, and Sacre Coeur Basilica. St-Denis Basilica and Royal Necropolis are built on the site destroyed during the French revolution. It showcases the Gothic style as in the Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Sacre Coeur Basilica interior is made breathtaking with gold leaves, and other decorative elements. The tourism here is made much more interesting with a tour to other elegant buildings like the St. Sulpice Church, and the St. Eustache Church.

History of Paris

Dating back to the times of 52 AD, when the Romans conquered the fishermen village, and founded a town called- Lutetia. THe city name was later changed to Paris during the fourth century. During the empire of the first king of the Franks- Clovis I, Paris became the capital of the region in the year 508. And, because of its strategic route for traders and pilgrims, the city witnessed a huge prosperity in silver trade during the 11th century.
