Bhavana's 5 days trip to Maldives

Our experience with travel triangle contact Naushad was very bad to say the least. Once the initial payment was complete, he was totally non responsive and unbelievably rude. Every single message on WhatsApp needed multiple followups for response. Very rarely call was picked up and answered on the first attempt. He was not only rude to me but to all the fellow ladies who were travelling with me. He even went to the extent of rudely asking if it was the first time we were travelling abroad. I am an IT professional travelling abroad to UK, US etc multiple times for work. I have travelled to places like Italy and Thailand through travel agents for vacation. I have never ever had such a bad experience. The worst experience was the itinerary said all the entry tickets were covered only to realise that we had to pay for every single place in srilanka. When asked we were told it was a typo and had to be considered under exclusion. But once we reached srilanka, our guide Sameer changed the whole perspective for us. He was not only very respectful, but also patient throughout our 6 day trip. He showed us all the important places and took photos. Driver was very good and capable and we were very happy with our experience in srilanka. No

Research, take your time, read reviews and decide. Do not worry if the chosen resort has last room as claimed by agent, you will have many other option even 7 days before and you might get room in same as well. Choose natural islands over man made ones. We chose resort which was built over deserted island and was very hot. Get into water only if you are sure about the depth and you are swimmer. Compare quotes with other travel agents and chose. Agents don't have much to do while booking for Maldives, they can only help you do the booking. Apart from that maldives experience is world famous. We also had good experience.

Tips For Maldives

  • It is advisable to chose a regional or any domestic flights from Middle East Asia because these are slightly cheaper options. You can first chose a flight to Male and then then take a speedboat to the islands. But there is also an option to take a round trip using the seaplane ride which is a bit expensive but totally worth your money.
  • Maldives has seen a hike in tourism since a few years so one must book hotels and flights way before the travel date. During the peak season it is extremely crowded and also gets difficult to get the hotel bookings.
  • Well, Maldives is a Muslim population country and there are certain rules and regulations of the land that one must categorically follow. During the month of Ramadan, it is advisable that one must avoid planning a trip because the local shopkeepers usually travel out of the Island to celebrate Ramadan with family. Do not expect food in the local shops during the time of prayer. There is unavailability of pork and Alcohol. It is also advisable to dress respectfully while travelling out of the resort. Inside the resort there are no restrictions.
  • One must carry a first aid emergency kit along. You can also carry snorkelling, swimming or diving gear to opt out of costs of renting these products. Carry tropical weather clothes and swimsuits for private islands. Always carry a sunscreen, surf wax and toiletries according to your requirements.
  • Always check and compare the prices of water sports around. There will be plenty of spots available for opting. You might find a better price at some places.
  • DO NOT MISS the Bioluminescent Beach of Maldives. It is definitely one of a kind where planktons emitting luminescent toxins under the sky at night. Make sure you book an authentic resort that promises to show this and note the timings beforehand so that you reach the venue on time.
  • The legal drinking age in Maldives is 18 and above. It being an Islamic Nation alcohol is effectively band for local population and Muslim travellers. It is advisable to respect these laws there. They are extremely strict about the drinking laws. Do not carry alcohol to the island in your bags. The only place you can find alcohol is at private resorts.
  • When you reach Maldives it is advisable that you stay at one hotel only. Changing hotel can be a huge task as travelling through boasts is hectic, especially during peak season. It is neither easy to find hotel nor easy to change.
