Pune to Coorg by road is a distance of about 900 kms and it takes about 15-17 hours to cover this. One can book a bus, or take a cab, or simply choose to drive. The connectivity is through various national and state highways. Although it is recommended to take a train or a flight because of long hours of journey and tiredness, but one can challenge to hit the road and drive the distance away and the coastal road trip will be a one of a kind experience, with the variety of landscapes and sceneries and lush green lands and big cities, that one gets to see on the way. Coorg has no railway station of its own and the nearest railway station is Mysore Junction Railway Station. So one has to travel from Pune to Mysore by train and further to Coorg by hiring a taxi or a cab or hopping on a bus. Various mail or express trains, superfast trains, and Humsafar trains run from Pune to Mysore. However, the travel time from various trains is between 21-27 hours, depending upon routes and halts. After this, one would have to travel via road as well to get to Coorg. Thus, taking a flight is preferred. Also, for the ones who wish to take a train, it is advised to book tickets well in advance.
