How To Reach Jaisalmer From Delhi

Delhi To Jaisalmer By Air: The airport in Jaisalmer is a military airport and as such, there are no commercial flights connecting it to Delhi. Therefore, there is no direct way to get from Delhi to Jaisalmer by air. The nearest airport to Jaisalmer is the Jodhpur airport which is about 290 kms from Jaisalmer and connected by both train and road.

Delhi To Jaisalmer By Train: Delhi and Jaisalmer are directly connected by train. It is a 780 kms journey and takes about 17 hours to complete by train. There are 4 trains that go from Delhi to Jaisalmer and at least 1 train is available everyday. The unique "Palace on Wheels" luxury train also leaves from Delhi and includes Jaisalmer in the itinerary.

Delhi To Jaisalmer By Road: The distance between Delhi and Jaisalmer is about 780 kms and this makes it a doable, if not a little inconvenient, trip by road. The entire journey does not take longer than 15 hours but it still a good idea to make it a 1 stop road trip. Two of the three routes go through Bikaner on to Jaisalmer while the other does not pass through any major cities instead going through towns like Neemraha and Nagaur.
