ATTRACTIONS IN YELAGIRI:
-JALAGAMPARAI FALLS: one of the most beautiful waterfalls and chief attraction in the region. Waterfall views are best in themonth of November to February as they are fully loaded with water. The fall is supposed to cure many ailments as it passesdown so many hills. One can reach this waterfall by a trek route from Nilavur in the hills. A temple in the shape of a Shiva Linga with the deity of Lord Muruga is situated near the falls.
-PUNGANOOR LAKE: It is a man made lake created artificially so as to accentuate the beauty of the place and attract tourists. The periphery of the lake is 57 sq m. and is ideal for boating and rowing. There is a lovely flori culture garden in the vicinitywhere people can relax and enjoy the beauty of the place. There is an open space for birds where a wide variety of birds come tohave their feed. It is an ultimate place for nature lovers.
-SWAMI MALAI HILLS: are the hills in the form of a cake having a strong base at the bottom and the high peak of the hills aboutto touch the sky. The highest of its peak is 4338m from the ground level.
-JALAGANDEESWARAR TEMPLE: stays in the womb of Vellore Fort which is also an attractive place to visit. The place has greatsculptures encarved from stone. It symbolises efficient craftsmanship. The temple has an open ground where people canconduct their prayers. Even marriages are organised in front of the temple.
-VELAVAN TEMPLE: was constructed in fond memory of Lord Murugan and is located on tip of a mountain in Yelagiri. It is anecstatic view to watch the fascinating large plains lying beneath from the top of a mountain. All festivals are celebrated with great pomp and show in Velavan temple and the best time to visit is in the month of July to August.
