Direct Link is a very good and reliable travel agent in Sri Lanka. Shafna from Direct Link helped us plan our Sri Lanka trip very well. She was very courteous, well-behaved, responsive before, during and after booking the trip. It was a pleasure interacting with her. Rizmi, our driver-guide, was very courteous, punctual and always available when we needed him. I would recommend him to anyone traveling to Sri Lanka.
The only con was the food quality and service at the hotels -- Sri Lankan hotels really need to improve the behaviour and responsiveness of their servers and front office staff. While Horton Towers in Nuwara Eliya, Mandara Resort in Mirissa, and Manara Beach in Beruwala were just about ok in terms of service, Ehalagala Resort in Sigiriya was the pits. The service quality at most of the hotels wasn't up to the mark. Ehalagala Resort in Sigiriya was the pits. There was no electricity or hot water (I had to literally beg for a bucket of hot water to take a shower as I had fever and couldn't shower with cold water), the intercom was not working, the food quantity was a joke, and service was very, very bad, to say the least. The manager wouldn't even look people in the eye or be courteous while talking and should be fired immediately. We heard that the hotel staff can't do their work properly because of his inefficiency.
The food at Horton Towers and Mandara Resort needs improvement, as does the time responsiveness of the servers and hotel staff. At Manara Beach (Beruwala), on the first day, the hotel staff messed up, as our rooms had been given to some other people as we arrived late. They later made up by giving us really good rooms and great service. The food at Manara Beach was excellent.
