Aruvikkuzhi Falls
Located at a short distance from Kumarakom town, the falls captivate the travellers with their scintillating beauty. Enjoy the view of water cascading down from a height of 100 feet through huge rocks. The area is known for its scenic beauty and is located in proximity to Kumarakom. The falls replenish the nearby streams with crystal-clear water during the monsoons.
Tip: The best time to visit is during the months from September to February.

Bay Island Driftwood Museum
This is the only museum in India that houses a collection of articles made of driftwood. The displays within the museum stand testimony to the bounties of nature and man’s creativity. These sculptures, created from roots are creative, innovative and original.
Tip: The museum is open from 10 AM to 1PM and 1:30 PM to 6 PM (Weekdays), 11:30 AM – 6 PM (Sunday). It is closed on Mondays.

Jama Masjid at Kumarakom

The history of the Masjid dates back to over thousand years. It boasts of a unique traditional architectural style and has beautiful word carvings. It is today a protected monument.

Also known as Vembanad Bird Sanctuary, the bird sanctuary is located on the eastern shore of Vembanad Lake against the backdrop of the backwaters. It is home to a diverse range of local and migratory birds.

Vembanad Lake
The Vembanad Lake is a beautiful water body which is popular as a picnic spot in Kumarakom. Vembanad Lake is the biggest lake in Kerala and the longest lake in the country. The lake encompasses several districts and is also known as Punnamada Kayal and Kochi Lake.

Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple
A popular religious site near Kumarakom, the Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple is located at around 10 km from Kottayam. One of the oldest temples of Kerala, it is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple has a history that goes back to many centuries. Every year, it attracts millions of devotees to its sanctum.

Also known as Ananda Padmanabhan Thoppu and Pathira Thoppu, Pathiramannal is a small scenic island located near Kumarakom. Stretching over 10 acres of land, it is nestled in the Vembanad Lake. The island can be reached from Kumarakom by means of ferry. The journey to the island itself is a mesmerizing one.
Tip: The island is a must visit, especially if you are a bird enthusiast. The island plays seasonal home to about 50 different species of migratory birds and 91 species of local birds.

Kumarakom Beach
This is one of the most enchanting beaches in Kerala. It is a perfect location to relax, with the cool breezes offering a fresh environment. You can indulge in the leisure pursuit, spend time watching people or enjoy romantic walks under the starlit sky. The beach is located in a tranquil coastal line and is completely undisturbed by commercial activities.
Tip: The beach is a great place for water sports. You can try out activities such as water skiing, parasailing, wind surfing and water aerobics.
