British architect Henry Irwin established the Gaiety Theatre on May 30th, 1887. Tourists are particularly lured by its Gothic style of architecture and its seating capacity of over 300 people. Earlier, it had five floors with a magnificent ballroom, a police office, galleries, an armoury and a bar. But after about twenty years, it was found that the structure of the building was not safe, and a few changes were made, but the theatre is as it is.
