Overview
There are many little towns and villages scattered all over India that have some fascinating stories to tell. Each of these stories has some incredible and intriguing connection to the country’s history and its rich and diverse culture. It is a truly delightful experience to be able to travel to such places and discover the story of our country’s history and mythology as we piece together all kinds of tales from all over India’s borders. One such town that has a truly marvellous story to tell about some of the most important and famous figures in Indian mythology is the tiny village of Gokarna, which you can visit with our Gokarna tour packages from Pune. It is located in the state of Karnataka, right along the periphery of our eastern coast, staring directly out onto the seemingly boundless Arabian Sea.
The town is best described as “divine”. It fits this description in a number of different ways. The importance of this village due to it being the site of the iconic pilgrimage site of Mahabaleshwar Temple, one of the most important places anywhere in the country for followers of the Hindu faith, is impossible to understate. On top of all this, Gokarna is also home to some of the most stunning beaches in all of India, further justifying its position as a divine destination. With TravelTriangle’s Pune to Gokarna packages, you have the opportunity to take a quick tour around this sacred locale with your own eyes and be blessed by its beauty. Here is a glimpse at the itinerary on this brief tour.
Mahabaleshwar Temple
This is the main attraction of this small town on Gokarna and what an attraction at that. The temple is located right on the shores of the Arabian Sea and is a prime example of what classic Dravidian architecture looks like. The structure overall is quite humble. It is not a huge sprawling monument that has multiple rooms and levels to explore. It more than makes up for its smaller scale with the intricate sculpting that lines the pillars on the inside of the temple. A magnificent statue of Lord Shiva himself that is found here in this temple is said to be 1500 years old. The Atmalinga, the shrine of Lord Shiva that is the reason for the sacred status of this temple, is located inside a pedestal with a hole at the top, allowing devotees to get a glimpse of it from the top. Entry into the sanctum sanctorum to view it in person is not permitted.
If you wish to experience this quaint village in all its sacred glory, our Pune to Gokarna packages may be the perfect way to plan your journey.

Other Benefits (On Arrival)
A crash course in culture
The first day of your tour starts as you arrive in Goa, still a bit of a distance away from your actual destination of Gokarna. After you reach Goa, we’ll be giving you a lift there. After we finally arrive in Gokarna itself, we check into a hotel, drop off our luggage.
The first stop on this all-day tour around this lovely coastal town known as Gokarna is going to be at what is definitely the most legendary site on this whole trip, the spectacular Mahabaleshwar Temple. The main Gokarna Beach that lies right in front of the Mahabaleshwar Temple is truly a sight for sore eyes. It offers so much delight to those who set foot on its sands. Also part of the day’s tour is the magnificent Kudle Beach. It is another spectacular location that is within touching distance from Gokarna.
Following the trail from the Half Moon Beach along this edge of the land and you’ll be able to get to a couple of other phenomenal spots. The Gokarna Lighthouse is one of them and the aptly named God’s Own Beach is the other.
All of this sightseeing is sure to have tired you out, so it may now be time to make your way back to Gokarna and crash onto your hotel bed for an overnight stay.

Final touches before we leave
You’re sure to need a hearty breakfast after the previous day’s events, so gobble up as much as you need, because we still have some more sightseeing to do. A little bit of a journey away is the town of Murudeshwar. home to the Murudeshwar Temple is another place worth visiting in this region. The town has its own set of attractions, but there are a few in particular that are especially worthy of note.
The Murudeshwar Temple is another shrine to Lord Shiva that is worth visiting, built on top of the Kanduka Hill. It provides a stunning view of the Arabian Sea due to its elevation. There is a calming park built around the structure of the temple, a perfect place for a walk. Before we get to any of that, however, the thing that you will notice first is the gigantic statue of Lord Shiva that has been erected here, the second-highest anywhere in India. You may spend the rest of the time you have here on Murudeshwar Beach, situated at the foot of the hill. After a couple of days jam-packed with so much to see, we finally depart for home, marking the end of a thoroughly enjoyable trip.
