About India Tourism

The phenomenal growth in tourism in India over the last few years has not just given tremendous boost to our economy, but also contributed in giving the country a prominent stature in world tourism. India’s rich culture, vibrant heritage, and magnificent natural beauty attracts an astounding flood of tourists every year.

But in a country as huge as India, where every piece of land offers something different in terms of both geography and culture, travelers often find themselves asking “where to start?” and “what all to explore?” This India travel guide has been devised keeping the same concerns in mind. It is designed to provide you all the necessary information you need to plan your trip smartly, and explore all that this beautiful country has to offer in the most convenient, and enjoyable way possible.

Travel and tourism in India is driven by its breathtaking natural beauty on one hand, and a rainbow of cultures and traditions on the other. From the snow-capped mountains to flower-strewn valleys, from ferociously gushing blue rivers to silent jade backwaters, from expansive golden deserts to infinitely long beaches, from the noise of urban centres to the peace of thick jungles, India has a treasure chest of landscapes that steals every traveler’s heart.

Tourism of India offers its travelers a peek into its unbeatably diverse culture - a kaleidoscope of different languages, religion, food, art, dance, music, architecture, attires, customs, festivals, and monuments - that is unique in each part of the country. Other than that, the rich history, vivid lifestyle, religious beliefs and customs, a myriad of colours, dramatic fairs, glittering marketplaces, and the classic Indian hospitality, never fails to impress its visitors. Essentially, India has something special to offer to every kind of traveler, and so does this travel guide to India!

There’s no small list of places to visit in India if one wishes to see and experience even half of what this country has to offer. From the colourful valleys of Kashmir in the north, to the palm-covered beaches of Kerala in the south; from the aromatic tea gardens of Assam in the east, to the gleaming deserts of Rajasthan in the west; every nook and cranny of the country will greet the travelers with a unique set of landscapes.

Travelers can pick from a plethora of things to do in India at all the different places they visit. When here, one can indulge in a range of activities like diving in the coral-rich sea of Andaman, riding bikes in Ladakh, dwelling in the religious mysticism of Varanasi, spotting wild beasts in the Western Ghats, visiting countless monasteries in Sikkim, witnessing the charm of Taj Mahal in Agra, camping on the arid deserts of Kutch, partying on the hippie beaches of Goa, playing with colours in Mathura, riding a toy train in Shimla, and rafting and paragliding in Himachal. With all this and more to explore and experience, you’d never be the same after a trip to India! Read on to find out more about Indian tourism.

    • Trip to Singapore

I am not at satisfied with KL tour and the programme. Unnecessary I have wasted half day on 18th evening (5-8pm) next day morning to evening 5.30pm. after that they took us for the KL city tour ( shown only Twin tower, KL tower and Chocolate factory). One the programme you made for me is totally wastage of money in KL. Singapore is some how better. but the food coupon provided to us those restaurant are situated more than 4-5 km away from hotel . So. taxi expenditure was too much in Singapore for having dinner with coupon. Rest is okay, I never faced such a bad experience before in India or abroad.

    • Trip to Sri Lanka

SriLanka in general is a nice place with enough natural resource, water falls, fruits with humble people . Roads were all maintained very well, mostly people follow traffic sincerely. Our driver Manju was very particular about time and he was at pickup point daily and also had multiple plans arranged for the full day. If some of the attractions are not available then he had other plans to fill our day to best utilize the day. He was explaining multiple attractions on our way and tried his best to answer all of our queries. This is one of the benefit of having an experienced English speaking driver during the trip. I asked to skip tooth relic temple as I believe temples should not have entry fees, if so then it will not be a temple instead will become an entertainment center. We had visited multiple places on our way, many of them had entrance fees like Botanical Garden, Pinnawala Elephant Camp, Turtle Hatchery. Entry fees are made same for both Indians and also any other foreigners, so I felt the price was little high. Gem stone Mining, Moon stone mining, Tea Factory, Mask Factory, Herbal Farm, Batik Factory were all had free entry and the information they provide were very useful information, at the end of the trip they will take you to their sales shop and create an environment where you will mostly end up buying something, which is worth as you had free entry and also free information session. Some corrections which I would focus next time >> ---------------------------------------------------------------- I was interested to go to some shopping place where I could find many souvenir items, but could not get useful details from driver or throughout the trip. I believe I should have visited Laksala to get these. Trip from Nuwara Eliya to Bentota was very long, we could have added one another place in middle to relax. I liked Galle city very much, so should have stayed somewhere nearby. Colombo bazaar trip was not much useful as this is something like a busy street in India as well. Driver dropped us in some fancy restaurants but I guess we could have gone to an only Indian restaurant present in Galle for lunch instead. Sigiriya, Yala seems a nice place so would like to cover next time. Ritigala & Rumaskala has sanjeevi mountain itseems. Some of the hotels were just sufficient and not very luxury Overall enjoyed my trip in Srilanka and liked cleanliness, nature. Would like to visit once again.

    • Trip to Mauritius

We travelled to Mauritius as 5 days trip for our Honeymoon. Aditya Grand Vacation was the travel agent who taken care and organized the whole trip. Tanvi- POC for our trip- who was totally reachable and helpful for our queries about quotation, stay, flights etc., We wanted to customize our package before 1 week of our travel (Wanted to visit Casela park instead of North tour). Though we had glitches in discussion initially, they arranged the trip without charging extra (Choosing private cab made this not much complicated). We never faced a single issue in the whole trip and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip and felt like home and very safe. From flights, hotel (Azur Paradise), food in hotel (i'll give 6/5 star), Private Cab, Sight seeing everything was hassle free. Initially i thought, the hotel has a private beach but it is not. Slightly disappointed (it was my mistake for not ensuring it), but still i could reach the nearest beach by walk in 3 min at max. The driver was arranged for our whole sightseeing-Jeff, was a very nice and polite person (Former Kick Boxer) . We totally admire his way of approach. We felt very safe while travelling with him. Leena- the poc in Mauritius was much reachable and assisted us even for a small query during our stay. Deepanshu- TT coordinator: helped us on invoice related queries. In Mauritius: Food: If your package is Half Board, your breakfast and dinner includes in your package (most of the time, it is delicious). When you are putside, try local food. Don't look for Indian restaurant, atleast get clarity about the meal on what they are serving exactly. It costed us 1200 Mauritius rupee for two meals which is very average, probably costs 200 rupees at the maximum in india. If you are a non vegetarian, you can try different variety of sea food (alas!! we are vegetarian). On the other hand, we tried roti in local road side shop is totally mouth watering costed just 10 Mauritius rupee for a single roti. So please be cautious on how much you are paying for what you are eating. Shopping: Always look for local duty free shops, which are reasonable in price. Beware of local market/bazaar shop where they charge 250% for TOURTISTS. We purchased a tshirt for 300 Mauritius rupee with the help of Jeff which was sold for 650. Activities: You have plenty of adventure and water activities wherever you go. Plan your time and enjoy accordingly. Locations: Simply Heaven. Beaches, landscapes, people, even roads- Mauritius will never fail to amuse and excite you!! Verdict: The trip was quiet pleasant and memorable. We regret for choosing the trip only for 5 days. It was bit tight for us. Mauritius is heaven. You will feel like a home. People are polite. Landscape is something phenomenal. Perfect destination to spend your relax time. Have your memorable time!!!

    • Trip to Himachal

Hiii myself Eshak. I booked a trip with North India tours and Travel to shimla and manali from delhi through TT. So about this trip i would like to share with other travellers and agents abouts some good and bad experience about this trip. Here are some points below: 1. Firstly the Hotels they provided us were very beautiful also the service of the hotel Royal Regency in shimla is awesome, the staff there is alwz at ur help but the hotel in manali i.e. Hotel Himalayan Heights is is also good but there service is hopeless. Please never choose that hotel. The only good thing bout the hotel is that it is beautiful and nothin els. The provide avg quality brkfst n dinner. You wont get the basic needed things u would expect from a hotel from them 2. Thou the hotels are good but both the hotels are far from the main centre so if u enter the hotel early you have nothing to do other thn watchin tv....or whatevr u do in idle time 3. The itinerary is a baseless thing. It wont be the same as shown in the itinerary. I made a mistake i dint checked the itinerary while on the trip and the driver also dint told me much about the places included in the itinerary. When i got back home i checked it again i saw in it many places which i dint visited during the trip...like, zoo, jaku temple etc etc. 4. I had an issue with the payment but TT agent solved it thou late and after my repeated asking fr a couple f time. 5. The agent Neha from North India Tour and Travel is good and polite.

    • Trip to Kerala

My first visit to southern India and chauffeur at our disposal was horrible with no understanding of family needs. He will just have his way throughout trying to save parking fees, some kilometres, driving rash, abusing other commuters and so on. Travel agent was nice but not adhering to service standards and commitments. Trip could have been better if the chauffeur was slightly compassionate. Kerala is beautiful at every bit, corner. This is actually a traveller's heaven and dream destination. Best places are Munnar, Thekkady and Allepey. Cochin to be avoided.

    • Trip to Bali

It was really great experience to visit bali. It was first time i went out of country, i was bit frightened before taking the trip. But is has nothing to be frightened off in Bali. We met driver who was very nice guy "thank you Mr Mandela". He was with us the whole trip for any pickup and drop. i would recommend prebooked cab for your trip. He also suggest few places other than our planned itinerary where we went and they were really good. We lived in Legian Kuta recommended if you love club/night life. We also lived in Villa in Nusa dua it was also really good. For vegetarian Bali has really fewer options and for non-vegetarian there are more than u can think. We took USD from India and converted then to IDR best rate you will get if you want to save money. It is recommended to convert partly as you can get money exchange in bali very very easily. We also took ICICI international card which was also useful at many places specially at airport like we had connecting flight from Malaysia but we didn't has their currency, we used card there.
