How to Reach Mauritius from India

Read about the best & quickest routes to save time & money, as suggested by our travelers

By Air

There are only two airports in Mauritius, Sir Gaëtan Duval Airport situated in Plaine Corail on Rodrigues and Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport. Those wondering how to reach Mauritius from Delhi or Mumbai, then we are here to inform that SSR Airport is well connected via domestic and international flights. Emirates, Swiss, China Eastern flights, Air India, etc. are some of the major international airlines with connectivity to these airports.

By Road

To enjoy the road journey, one can reach the SSR Airport and take a bus to their desired destination. Buses available from the airport are 09, 10, and 198. Land transport here includes bus, taxi and cars. The bus network is large in the country, spread across the entire island. There are 2 kinds of buses in Mauritius: standard and express. Express buses are air conditioned buses and have fewer stops on each route. The buses run between 5:30 am and 8 pm. On the countryside, which is less developed, timings are shorter and less reliable. Travelers may have to change a bus in order to reach their destination.

Taxi is also easily available on the island but are more expensive. One can take any of the two buses. Fare of express bus is a bit higher as it is air conditioned and faster than the standard bus.

By Sea

Besides boarding a flight or bus, one can also hop on a cruise to reach Mauritius. Board a cruise to Port Louis from the ports of Mumbai or Chennai, or choose to take a boat ride to Mauritius from Madagascar, and have a luxurious experience. However, the cruise journey from Mumbai and Chennai can take approximately 12 or 13 days to reach the destination.

This was our second booking with Travel Triangle, the first one being our honeymoon trip to Mauritius. Therefore, we didn't think twice before going ahead. Our travel agent, Mr. Mukesh had maintained contact throughout the tour. He has been extremely efficient. We sincerely appreciate the effort he has put in. Secondly, Mr. Nagraj (driver) was not just punctual and skilled, but also very warm. Thirdly, the resorts were simply wonderful! Apart from the location, we were satisfied with the amenities we were provided with. My sincere thanks to Travilius and team for organising the trip so well. Thanks a ton for making it worth the penny!

    • Trip to Mauritius

Mauritius and the hotel name was Seaview Calodyne Beach Resort. The booking experience was good. The hotel could have been better considering the location and vegetarian food options that we mentioned upfront. The resort booked was very far from all other hotels that others in the SIC tour had. Hence we always had to daily start earlier (first pickup) and we're dropped last after the trip ended for the day. The agents could have clubbed this properly. The resort as such was good in terms of scenic location and hospitality of staff was excellent. But this was mostly occupied by foreigners and hence did not have vegetarian food options. It was all non vegetarian and we could just manage with the limited vegetarian option for dinner. The trips we're good and the best was catamaram cruise.

The entire tour was very well organised and most important thing was punctuality which I liked the most. The guides on all the days helped and guided in what to shop, where to shop, what to enjoy etc. The hospitality they gave us was really appreciable. Everyone's time was appreciated by the guide. In my group all the couples and a family were also punctual so we enjoyed a lot. There were no delays anywhere and ample time was given to us to enjoy as well.

    • Trip to Mauritius

When we checked in hotel they give us very untidy and low superior room for 2 nights , but after that when we complained to them for superior room mention on their google site then they change our room , that was only thanks to miss deeksha receptionist. And our tour cab (SEASIDE) is very disappointed as they dont explore main siteseen's of mauritius just only go to the places , shops , where their commission is fixed. They just threaten on the name of water sports to do with them only for safety at almost double price i.e. (Aquasail water sports) coz their commission is set with them. Otherwise mauritius is very beautiful and crime free country, just beware of these moneyminded cheaters . Traveltriangle bookings and response is very good and safe specially Yatin and also Janet from sharing tour and travels Best is weather, beachview and new tour friends

    • Trip to Mauritius

We booked a trip to Mauritius for 2 couples with itinerary of 7d & 6N at Solana Beach Resorts in March this year with FlyAway Trips. I had booked the Flights myself though based on my preferences. This booking happened after weeks of discussions. I appreciate the amount of dedication and timely support received from Mr. Praveen/Sakshi of FlyAway Trips during the planning. They were able to resolve my queries and provide me the Hotel of my choice within my budget since I had researched intensively for Mauritius tourism. Now talking about the Good and Bad points based on experience on the Trip: Good: 1) Mr. Praveen/Divya were available throughout the trip on Wtsapp even at odd hours. They had explained me all the details prior to the departure. A big Thank You to them 2) Choice of our Hotel - Solana Beach turned out to be the Best decision of whole trip given the scenic views from each of the rooms, amenities and local Indian Vegetarian Food topped with Courteous Staff (Mostly native Indians with Hindi speaking) 3) We enjoyed more on public beaches and self planned visit to places. 4) Complimentary activities such as Glass bottom boat ride, snorkelling, paddle boat were definitely a Plus. Bad: 1) The itinerary provided by In-Tune Travels(Major vendor for tours in Mauritius) was pathetic. A typical schedule would contain 3 Full Day Tours namely: North Tour, South Tour and Tour to Island Ile aux Cerfs.... In our case, all 3 day tours were planned back to back in our first 3 days only...without the break. a) North Tour was total waste which had a old fort Le Citadel near Port Louis and a 3 hr trip to City's only Waterfront Mall - Le Caudan b) South Tour was again waste which was a clever trick of taking u to remotely located private Nature reserve park and charging exorbitantly for food and Adventure Activities. None of the famous places of south are included in this trip...coz obviously they wouldn't earn them enough revenues. c) Water Activities and Trip to Beautiful Private Island - Ile aux Cerfs was the only saving grace. But total time given on island was also very less(1.5 Hr only) 2) Locations of all the Hotels on East coast are extremely remote with No activity after 6 pm. Confinement to your Hotel is only option. Prefer taking resorts on the Western or Northern side of island. 3) Water is super costly and not free even at the hotel. Purchase of big crates from local grocery is only option.
