History of Bali

The history of Bali spans from the Paleolithic period to the Modern Age. During this entire period, the history of Bali is marked by people, culture and their influences. People from other parts of Asia migrated to Bali during the different ages. As a result, their culture and traditions also came along with them. When the Europeans arrived in Bali during the 16th century, they brought their Western culture along with them. Today, Bali stands as a symbol of these mixed cultures which has been preserved by the people. Earlier during the 2000 BCE, Bali was inhabited by the people who migrated from Oceania and Southeast Asia and they were called as Austronesian people. After the 4th and 5th century, Hinduism became very popular in Bali when the Hindu traders entered the island and also nine Hindu sects existed in ancient Bali. Along with Hinduism, religions like Sivaism and Buddhism were also practiced in Bali. History of Bali also includes the arrival of Dutch settlers in Bali in the 16th century who influenced Balinese culture and architecture. During World War II, Bali was conquered by Japan which ended the Dutch rule in Bali. In the year 1949, Netherlands recognized the independence of Indonesia and Bali was included in the Republic of the United States of Indonesia.

Language of Bali

Balinese and Bahasa Indonesian are the two most common languages of the people in Bali. According to a survey done by Bali Cultural Agency in 2011, it was estimated that less than 1 million people in Bali use the Balinese language in their day to day life. Travel to Bali

Read about the best & quickest routes to save time & money, as suggested by our travelers

By Air

Travelling by air is the best way to reach Bali from India. As many of the airlines have a layover at Kuala Lumpur, one can choose to book a flight from major cities of India up to Ngurah Rai International Airport. Garuda Indonesia runs a nonstop flight from Mumbai to Bali whereas there are only connecting flights available to travel from Delhi to Bali by air. One can also take a flight from India to Singapore and then board a flight to Bali. The airport is well connected to all the cities within the country as well as outside it. One can take a bus or taxi from the airport to reach their destination.

By Road

Bali, being an island, does not have any road connectivity with other parts of the world. Therefore, it is impossible to reach Bali by road directly. However, one can reach Singapore by road, and then take a ferry to reach Jakarta. Jakarta to Bali distance is about 1200 km; and it takes around 23 hours journey by bus from Jakarta to Bali. Thus, the route will be India- Myanmar- Thailand- Malaysia- Indonesia. Going to Bali by road is not recommended as it can take weeks to reach the destination. Also, one must have a visa and other permits for all the countries that are on the way, which makes the road trip very expensive.

Viknesh's 6 days trip to Bali

We had an awesome experience that sure will last forever. We went to Bali between Feb 18 and 25 before corona became mainstream and it was one beautiful experience. Everything right from the start was meticulously planned and customized for our needs. It was like a dream come true. They took care of every single thing so that we didn't have to worry about anything and just enjoy the trip. Presales team considered all my requests, the post sales team personally called and explained the trip details and the whatsapp team created just before our trip helped us to get cleared about some of our doubts. 5 star! We felt like we know the place right from landing on Bali. We wanted both hotels to be a private pool villa and it was the best decision. Pramana Desa Swan though a bit isolated from the tourist attractions, it was great. Ubud Heaven Sayan is just that, Heaven! If you love Nature, you will enjoy it. Our driver Mr. Sathiya is a gem. He was so cooperative and even showed us few more places that are not on the trip. The trip was jam packed with a lot of destinations to cover and every single thing was worth it. I can talk all day long about our trip. You will never be disappointed. Book with your eyes closed. Few tips You will not need a local sim card at all. Hotels have good wifi and the restaurants hav wifi too. We never used our local sim and it didn't have good signal most of the time. In restaurants you have all these varied menu items to choose from. If in doubt always order Nasi Goreng which is just Chicken Fried Rice in Balinese. Opt in for photography at Tanah Lot and additional water sports benoa beach. BARGAIN as much as you can. They are worth it. Always have an additional pair of dress and hats handy. You never know when you will get dripping in water or scorched in sun. Ask for honeymoon freebies well before the trip. We asked for it just before starting and we didn't get any of those.

Apurva's 7 days trip to Bali

This was my 1st international trip and it was my honeymoon trip. I was exploring multiple options to go out of country, Thailand and Bali were my top choices. While doing my search I came across Sagar from Desi Yatri who helped me making my decision right and choosing Bali as my destination. I cant thank him enough to make me feel comfortable in sharing all minute trip details to revising and modifying itenary as per my needs. He also ensured he give us best of the hotels since we were honeymoon couple. As they say, you dont go by company but you go by person who is selling you the product. He is not typical sales person but someone who will ensure he gives his 150percent in terms of his services. I dont remember a single instance when he hasnt recieved my or husbands call or couldnt guide us or misguided us..From basics to everything was been properly shared. The can driver, cab to all spots covered were as per itenary. SAGAR you are best suited for this profession. Thanks sagar, desi Yatri and Travel Triangle for making my trip so memorable.. Best part of this trip was : 1. Water sports 2. Bounty Cruise the most amazing experience 3. PRIVATE pool villa..a must go when in Bali.

Rohit's 6 days trip to Bali

The villa was totally horrible, no lighting at all it was looking like a horror movie set, food in the villa was also overpriced. Candle light dinner which was included in the package was so awkward. 3 tables was settled one by one and we can hear the conversation of the other couple. Hotel management is so eager to close the hotel that we have to take away the dessert. Otherwise it was a great trip
