One can travel to Bali from India by air and the distance is around 5800 km. Travelling by air is the best way to reach Bali from India. The duration of the flight is about 9 hours, and most of them have a layover at Kuala Lumpur. One can easily book a flight from major cities of India up to Ngurah Rai International Airport which is at a distance of 13 km from Bali. Garuda Indonesia runs a nonstop flight from Mumbai to Bali whereas there are only connecting flights available to travel from Delhi to Bali by air. One can also take a flight from India to Singapore and then board a flight to Bali, with Singapore to Bali distance being 1680 km. The airport is well connected to all the cities within the country as well as outside it. One can take a bus or taxi from the airport to reach their destination.
Railways are not the best way to reach Bali from India. One may take a train up to Chennai or Vishakhapatnam, and then take flights from there to minimize their expenses, as these cities are located towards the south of India from where the aerial distance to Bali is comparatively less. It is virtually impossible to reach Bali by train, not only from India but also from any other country in the world and does not have any railway station in the first place.
Bali, being an island, does not have any road connectivity with other parts of the world. Therefore, it is impossible to reach Bali by road directly. However, one can reach Singapore by road, and then take a ferry to reach Jakarta. Jakarta to Bali distance is about 1200 km; therefore, it is a 23 hours journey by bus from Jakarta to Bali. Thus, the route will be India- Myanmar- Thailand- Malaysia- Indonesia. Going to Bali by road is not recommended as it can take weeks to reach the destination. Also, one must have a visa and other permits for all the countries that are on the way, which makes the road trip very expensive.
Apart from these, the cheapest way to reach Bali from India is by taking a flight from Chennai or Cochin. The flight fares from these places are quite economical as compared to the other metropolitan cities of India. Another way to get cheap flights from India to Indonesia is by making all the bookings in advance or choosing the flights with longer duration layovers at Kuala Lumpur.
