Akash's 7 days trip to Kerala

Overall good experience, except food constraints always remain there specially for people travelling from north, west & central India . Won't get much variety in breakfast as people in south are heavily dependent on Non veg items, and for veg they serve Idli , dosa, idiyappam, appam, utpam everyday. everyhotel has indoor kitchen facility , except Curly woods resort (Thekeddy) , which in turns makes things little inflexible in ordering. Elephant ride with fountain is the best part of the trip Beautiful all time weather because of premonsoon with gradual drizzling 24x7 round the clock. Kalaripayattu steals the show . Overall good experience

Rajeeb's 4 days trip to Kerala

I booked the package tour before I month of my Tour. I was very excited about this tour. My tour was from Aluva (Kerela) to Munnar and Thekaddy in Kerala. It was a road trip from Aluva. I will give my genuine Feedback. I had a discussion with Mr. Digipal Jee from Travel Triangle and Mr. Ankit from the local travels company. I would like to say that the vehicle (Desire) which was assigned to me was not up to the mark. The AC was not working properly. The temperature was very high but anyways I managed. But my Blood pressure was high when the driver asked me money for petrol. They don't even have the communication that I have paid the entire amount to Travel Triangle two days back. Thereafter I called my so called agent Mr. Digipal Jee and Ankit Jee, thereafter the issue got resolved. This shows that they are not professionals and Poor Communication between their travel agents and travel triangle. My Hotel bookings in Munnar was at "Hotel Star Emirates" it was a 4 Star Property but here also the same issue no communication on the payment matter. The receptionist asked me about the payment and here also I called Mr. Digipal Jee and Ankit and clarified that the entire amount has been paid to Travel Triangle before two days back. My family was suffering and we waited for 1 hour for Check-in. Poor Co-ordination. Now review on Room. I stayed their for 2 Nights and till my entire stay the Intercom (A Major source of Communication within the Hotel) was not working. When I complained they just told that it will be rectified soon. But till my checkout the Phone was out of order. They gave me duty manager's contact number and asked I can call in this number if anything is required. But when my son tried calling in this number to order Noodles for him the phone was not responding at that time. I waited for 10 mins in my room but i didn't recieved any kind of response form the hotel end. It was my big mistake to book my Package from Travel Triangle. I am sorry I will never repeat this mistake once Again. They also charged me Rs. 1000 extra because my son's actual age was 13 instead of I mentioned 12 Years while booking this package. The Gentleman from Travel Triangle Mr. Digipal Jee called me directly and asked to pay Rs. 1000 extra at Hotel only because my son is 1 year more elder than what I register. My point is I managed lot of non-cooperation from the travel agent but they can't managed a single mistake from my end. Thanks Travel Triangle for all this....I will never ever repeat this kind of mistake in my life.

What to Eat in Kerala?

Kerala has a rich culinary culture and takes pride in non-vegetarian food offerings. From chicken to mutton, pork and a thrilling range of seafood including tiger prawns, crab, mussels, tuna, king prawns, sardines, oysters, mackerel, and delicious red lobsters. It might be the 'land of spices' but combine that with the exquisite collection of ingredients like grated coconut milk, coconut paste, etc. used in the gravies for cooking, the cuisine of Kerala is a full blast of flavors. While you find these predominantly, you will also discover a lot of chilli, mustard seeds curry leaf and tamarind in your dishes.

The food in Kerala is inspired by a fusion of French, Arabian and Malabari influences. It is enhanced with Kerala’s unique culture from enormous platters to non-vegetarian flavors. Kerala’s staple food is influenced by the history and culture of the region. It’s basically a blend of both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian options where the latter is prepared from items like fish, red meat and poultry.

1. Puttu and Kadala Curry

Puttu is a breakfast dish and a cylindrical steamed rice cake cooked with coconut. It is a very popular dish, especially in the Kannur region of Kerala. The best way to complement Puttu is by eating it with Kadala Curry which is basically black chickpeas or kala chana.  The dish is well garnished with grated coconut and ripe bananas.

2. Appam with Stew

Appam is a revolutionary dish eaten in Kerala which is basically an innovative version of a pancake. Fermented with rice batter and coconut milk and pretty common in the South Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Served with the stew, typically made up of chicken chunks and meat with a spicy coconut gravy, you have basically a perfectly balanced dish.

3. Idiyappam with Egg Curry

Also popular as noolappam, Idiyappam is made up of rice flour, water and salt. There are a well number of thin strands also called sevai intertwined together to make a lovely appam. It has a plain texture and what really makes it versatile is that it can simply be paired with all sorts of curries. And the most magical curry that can be combined with this is the egg curry.

4. Kerala Prawn Curry

This is indeed one of the simplest dishes that can be made in every other household in Kerala. It’s really amazing when simple ingredients combine together to make lovely dishes. A traditional prawn curry in Kerala tastes best when served with items such as salt, pepper, chili and coconut milk. To provide a unique and rather sweet taste, curry leaves and jaggery are added into the mix. The aroma is as amazing as the taste of the dish!

5. Pumpkin and Lentil Stew

While non-vegetarian dishes are a specialty in Kerala, there is no dearth of problems with vegetarian dishes as well. One of the most popular vegetarian curries in Kerala, the dish is basically a sweet pumpkin mixed with dried lentils and a batter of rice. It is also served with dosa which elevates its taste to a whole new level.
