Why Choose a 12-Day Himachal Honeymoon

Most Himachal honeymoons are three or four nights, which is enough for one hill station and not much else. Twelve days is a different trip. It gives you two easy days in Delhi and Agra to start, then real time in Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala and Dalhousie, and a quiet finish in Amritsar. You unpack, you slow down, and you are not driving every single morning. The route is built so the long transfers sit between lighter days, and so the snow points near Manali come in the middle when you are rested.

It also folds in the things couples ask us to add on shorter trips but never have room for: the Taj Mahal, the Wagah Border retreat ceremony, and the Golden Temple. If you would rather compare shorter options first, our full range of Himachal honeymoon packages is a good place to start.

Browse the Himachal honeymoon packages if you want to weigh this 12-day plan against a shorter route.

Best Time to Visit for a Himachal Honeymoon

Himachal works for a honeymoon in every season except the monsoon, so the real question is what you want the trip to feel like. If you want snow at Solang and Kufri, come in winter. If you want clear passes and green valleys, come in spring or autumn. Here is how the year breaks down for this route.

    SeasonWhat it is likeGood for
March to JunePleasant days around 15 to 30 C, clear mountain views, Rohtang usually opens by MaySightseeing, first-timers, comfortable weather
July to SeptemberHeavy monsoon rain, landslide risk on hill roads, low visibilitySkip this window for a long hill trip
October to NovemberCrisp, dry and clear with thinner crowds and better hotel valueCouples who want quiet and good photos
December to FebruaryCold, with snow in Shimla, Manali, Solang and Kufri and some passes shutSnow honeymoons and cosy hotel evenings

    Day-by-Day 12-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi arrival and sightseeing

Your honeymoon starts in the capital. Our representative meets you on arrival and after check-in you head out for a half-day around the city, taking in India Gate, the Red Fort, the Lotus Temple and Akshardham. Keep the evening slow, with a quiet dinner for two and an early night before the hills. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 2: Day trip to Agra and the Taj Mahal

After breakfast you drive to Agra to stand in front of the Taj Mahal, the one monument every couple wants to see once. You also visit Itimad-ud-Daulah, often called the Baby Taj, and take in the Yamuna views before driving back to Delhi in the evening. Overnight in Delhi. If you would rather trade the Agra day for an extra hill night, that is an easy swap when you customise.

Day 3: Delhi to Shimla, the drive into the hills

This is a travel day, and it is a pretty one. You leave Delhi after breakfast and drive roughly 350 km to Shimla, about 7 hours with stops, climbing from the plains through Chandigarh and Kalka into the pine belt. The road narrows and cools as you gain height, and the first clear ridge views arrive well before you reach town. If you want to make the last leg special, the Kalka to Shimla toy train is a UNESCO-listed narrow-gauge ride you can book separately. Reach Shimla by evening, check in, and take a first slow walk on the Ridge and Mall Road with the lights coming on across the valley. Overnight in Shimla.

Day 4: Kufri excursion and Shimla sightseeing

A full day around Shimla. You drive out to Kufri for Green Valley, with pony and yak rides and views into the Himalayan Nature Park, then come back for the town itself. Walk up to Jakhu Temple for the big Hanuman statue and the wide valley view, then spend the rest of the day along the Ridge and Mall Road, past Christ Church, the Gaiety Theatre, Scandal Point and the Kali Bari Temple. Lower Bazaar is the place for woollens and local handicrafts. Overnight in Shimla.

Day 5: Shimla to Manali through the Kullu Valley

You set off after breakfast for Manali, about 250 km and 7 to 8 hours through some of the best river scenery in the state. The road follows the Beas past the Pandoh Dam and the still water of Sundar Nagar Lake, with a stop at the roadside Hanogi Mata Temple and time at the Kullu shawl factories if you want to shop for local weaves. You reach Manali by evening. Overnight in Manali.

Day 6: Manali sightseeing and Old Manali

Today is unhurried. Start at the Hadimba Devi Temple, a 16th-century wooden shrine set among tall deodars, then walk through Van Vihar by the river. Cross to Old Manali for its cafes and slow lanes, and if you have the appetite for a short detour, the sulphur baths at Vashisht and the walk up to Jogini Falls are both close by and easy to fold in. Back in the market, look for Kullu shawls, caps and Tibetan handicrafts, with the Pir Panjal range filling the skyline. Overnight in Manali.

Day 7: Solang Valley and the snow points

The adventure day. Solang Valley is about a 30-minute drive from Manali and is where the ropeway, pony rides, zorbing and short hikes are, plus skiing when there is snow. When the pass is open and the weather holds, you can carry on to Rohtang for the high-altitude snow, though access depends on permits and conditions and is never guaranteed. Couples who want to add the classic hot springs at Manikaran in the Parvati Valley can build in a day here when they customise. Overnight in Manali.

Day 8: Manali to Dharamshala, crossing to the Kangra Valley

A longer transfer, around 235 km and close to 8 hours, and a scenic one. You drop back down the Kullu Valley past Mandi, then climb again toward the Dhauladhar range, watching the landscape shift from Manali pine to the broad tea-country greens of Kangra. Break the drive where it suits you and reach Dharamshala by evening. Head up to the Naddi sunset point for the first big Dhauladhar view before dinner. Overnight in Dharamshala.

Day 9: Dharamshala sightseeing, then transfer to Dalhousie

Spend the morning in and above Dharamshala. Visit the Dalai Lama Temple complex at McLeodganj, the old stone St John in the Wilderness church set in the deodars, and Dal Lake, with time to walk the McLeodganj markets for Tibetan crafts and coffee. In the evening you transfer to Dalhousie, a quiet colonial-era hill town, and check in for the night. Overnight in Dalhousie.

Day 10: Day trip to Khajjiar

A short 30-minute drive through dense deodar forest brings you to Khajjiar, the wide green saucer of a meadow often called mini Switzerland. It is made for a slow couple day, with horse riding, zorbing and paragliding when the season allows. On the way back you can stop at Panchpula and the Satdhara Falls, then wind up the day shopping around Gandhi Chowk in Dalhousie. Overnight in Dalhousie.

Day 11: Dalhousie to Amritsar and the Wagah Border

You leave the hills and drive down to Amritsar in Punjab. The set-piece of the day is the evening retreat ceremony at the Wagah Border, the theatrical lowering of the flags at the India and Pakistan crossing, best reached early to get a seat. Check in for the night in Amritsar. Overnight in Amritsar.

Day 12: Golden Temple and drive back to Delhi

End the trip at the Golden Temple, calm in the early hours, for a quiet last morning together before the journey home. If time allows you can also stop at the nearby Jallianwala Bagh memorial. In the afternoon you drive back to Delhi for your airport or railway station drop-off, closing a full circle from the plains to the mountains and back.

What This Honeymoon Costs and What Is Included

This 12-day trip is priced from Rs 65,879 per person on twin sharing, down from Rs 72,395, which works out to roughly Rs 1.3 lakh for a couple across all 11 nights. That figure covers your 3-star hotels, daily breakfast and dinner, a private cab for the whole route and every transfer, so the main things left to budget for are lunches, entry fees, any activities you add and personal spending. Because every itinerary is customisable, the final price moves with your hotel category, room type and season, and you get a written quote before you pay anything.

Hotels and Romantic Stays on This Route

The hotel category is fully customisable: ask to move up to 4-star or premium stays, request a valley-view or honeymoon room, and we re-quote before you confirm.

Why Book This Honeymoon With TravelTriangle

TravelTriangle has served 19,707+ travellers for Himachal and works through a network of 650+ verified local agents, so the itinerary you see is one you can actually adjust rather than a fixed brochure. You compare quotes from the top three agents for your dates, customise the route, and pay in easy installments, all backed by stringent quality control and support through the trip.

"On the 12-day route we tell couples to keep the Manali to Dharamshala drive for a morning start, not an afternoon one, so you reach Naddi in time for the Dhauladhar sunset."

Fares, night-split and hotel categories on this page are checked by our Himachal desk against live agent quotes before the page goes out.

Ready to Plan Your 12-Day Himachal Honeymoon

A twelve-day route is the one trip that lets a Himachal honeymoon breathe, with the Taj Mahal, four hill stations, real snow points and the Golden Temple in a single unbroken journey. Start from this plan, then shape the dates, hotels and stops around the two of you.

Compare it with our other Himachal honeymoon packages, or ask a travel expert to customise this exact 12-day route for your dates.

The entire trip was smooth and well-organized comfortable cab, good hotels with mountain view (except small issues which handled well by Manisha), and a very friendly and skilled driver (Gian and Ravi Thakur made our journey smooth and intresting. Landed in a bit on confusion, initial 1/3 amount was paid on travel triangle portal, rest 2/3 asked to be given directly to the agent. No proper accountability here. Definitely not a good practice on the long run. Had some cab issues..sent a old Innova initially then changed to white board. Later al
l sorted but wasn't peaceful initial two days.

The overall trip could have been better had the agency taken care of some small things. 1. At two of the booked hotels, Wistling Pine in Shimla and Savers Park in Amritsar were had been stopped for about 30 minutes or so when checking out stating that the payments were not made and that we had to p
ay them. It was very inconvenient. 2. We didn't get to see a few places promised in the final voucher. First, we got to Kullu in the evening and the driver stopped at a shop and said that if we wanted to buy clothes we had about 30 minutes. He said we will not visit Kullu again. So we didn't see Kullu at all. Second, we didn't visit Kasole at all. The driver said he will see if the roads to Kasole were open, he will take us. But he didn't take us there. I know for sure that the roads were open. I strongly believe he wanted to get to Dharamshala earlier so he skipped that. Third, the driver skipped all the sightseeing in Dalhousie saying that they are 50 to 60 km away so we cannot visit them. 3. When we asked for some changes in the hotel reservations, although the request being 3 days in advance, it was denied stating that the changes could not be made. 4. When we would asked the driver to take us to a near by mall or shopping, he declined the request stating the car has a gps and that hey is not allowed to. 5. At most of the hotels, we missed the breakfast because the driver wanted to leave early for the next destination.

Overall a decent experience. There were a few glitches during the tour, which could have been avoided, however, overall quite okay. I must however mention that once all payments are done, its difficult to contact representatives of Travel Triangles, we had some issues & reps from TT were not reacha
ble. This was a bit disappointing. Coming to travel agency - Adventure Mania - There were some coordinating issues between them & the driver. Adventure Mania staff were quite supportive throughout the tour. Having said, while planning the tour, a better research of the customer is vital. We too make a mistake of selecting one Hotel in Jibhi (Hotel Majestic) which was one of the worst hotels / homestays we ever travelled to. The Agency was very kind to cancel one night in Jibhi & arrange one add night in Manali. Shivam, Simpy & the Owner Mr. Sonu were all helpful & tried their best to make is comfortable. Everything cant be perfect, so overall we are quite okay with the travel arrangements & do return with good memories. I would use Travel Triangles in the future as well, but would learn from my mistakes during this tour. Request Travel Triangles to have more responsive representatives who can reach out to customers when required.

We recently planned our Spiti trip through Travel on ease through Travel Triangle, and I must say, first impressions do leave a lasting impact. My interaction with Anita ji during the planning phase was both informative and highly professional. She was very accommodating with hotel and tour selectio
ns, offering multiple options tailored to our preferences. Her deep knowledge and reassuring communication gave me great confidence in the planning process. Throughout our trip, their app provided daily updates on our itinerary along with driver pickup details and timings. The drivers were punctual, and their 24/7 customer support was readily available to assist with any queries we had.
