Jibhi & Tirthan Valley Family Package (4D/3N) - At A Glance

Tirthan Valley is the quiet corner of Himachal's Kullu district that most itineraries skip, and that is exactly why families keep coming back to it. This 3 nights 4 days trip is built around Jibhi, the small riverside hamlet that sits at the heart of the valley, at roughly 1,600 metres above sea level. You reach it on an overnight Volvo from Delhi, spend two full days on unhurried sightseeing (the Jibhi waterfall, Jalori Pass and the Serolsar Lake trek), and head home on the fourth day after a stop at the Great Himalayan National Park. No long transfers between towns, no rushed checklist, one base for three nights. The valley takes its name from the Tirthan river that runs through it, and Himachal is called Devbhumi, the Land of Gods, for good reason.

For the wider region, seasons and things to do beyond this package, see our Himachal travel guide. This page keeps to what this specific family trip covers.

    Trip highlights

    • Two unhurried days in Jibhi, one base for all three nights, no daily hotel changes.

    • The Jibhi waterfall, a short 10 to 15 minute walk from the village.

    • Jalori Pass at 3,120 m, and the forested 5 km trek to Serolsar Lake.

    • The Great Himalayan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, on the way out.

    • Shoja, the tiny hamlet you climb through on the road up to Jalori Pass, worth a chai stop for the valley views.

    • Optional add-on: Chehni Kothi, the centuries-old wooden tower fort near Jibhi, if you want a half-day heritage walk (ask us to build it in).

3 nights 4 days Jibhi itinerary, day by day

Day 1: Delhi to Aut, overnight Volvo

The trip starts in Delhi. Report to Majnu ka Tilla in the evening, from where the overnight Volvo to Aut departs at 6:00 PM. It is roughly a 12-hour, 495 km run through the night in a semi-sleeper Volvo, so you wake up in the mountains rather than losing a day to the drive. Meals and a warm layer for the bus are worth carrying. There is no hotel night on Day 1, the coach is your transfer into the valley.

Day 2: Arrive Jibhi, waterfall and village

You reach Aut in the morning, where our cab driver meets you for the short onward drive to Jibhi. Check in, freshen up, and ease into the valley. The first afternoon is deliberately light: wander the small market, then walk out to the Jibhi waterfall, a 10 to 15 minute stroll from the village that kids handle easily. Back to the hotel by evening for dinner and an early night, because the river and the birdsong start early here. (Meals today: breakfast and dinner.)

Day 3: Jalori Pass and the Serolsar Lake trek

After breakfast the cab climbs to Jalori Pass at 3,120 m, the high point of the trip, passing through the hamlet of Shoja on the way up. From the pass it is a gentle 5 km forest trek to Serolsar Lake, an alpine lake ringed by oak and the small Budhi Nagin temple on its bank. It is a walkable, family-grade trail rather than a hard climb, and you can turn back early if the little ones tire. Drive back down to Jibhi for the night. (Meals today: breakfast and dinner.)

Day 4: Great Himalayan National Park, then departure

After breakfast, check out and drive to the edge of the Great Himalayan National Park, the UNESCO-listed reserve that protects blue sheep, Himalayan tahr, musk deer and, higher up, snow leopard. You will not see the big cats on a day visit, but the walk-in trails and the Tirthan riverbank are the point. There is time for the Choie waterfall before you leave the valley. Then it is back to Aut to board the return transfer to Delhi, arriving the same night or early next morning. (Meal today: breakfast.)

Prefer a two-day version or a private-cab road trip from Delhi or Chandigarh? Those are in related packages below, and any day here can be extended or swapped when you customise.

    Where you'll stay

All three nights are in Tirthan Valley on a twin-sharing basis. Rooms come with breakfast and dinner included. On a family or larger booking we can upgrade to a riverside cottage or a bigger room set, tell us the group size and we will match the stay.

    Cancellation and booking policy

You book this trip the TravelTriangle way: you get a written, itemised quote for your exact dates and group, pay an advance to confirm the Volvo seats and hotel, and settle the balance before travel. Because the package bundles a fixed Volvo departure and a contracted hotel, the cancellation terms depend on how close to the travel date you cancel and on the hotel's own policy. Those exact terms, including any free-cancellation window and the refund slabs, are stated in writing on your quote before you pay anything, so there are no surprises. If your plans are still loose, tell your trip coordinator up front and we will flag the flexible options. Full support runs on WhatsApp through the trip, 24 by 7.

Not quite the trip you had in mind? These cover the same valley from different durations and cities:

2 Nights 3 Days Tirthan Valley Tour for a shorter weekend version of the same Jibhi base.

Tirthan Valley Tour from Delhi if you want a Delhi-anchored road trip rather than the fixed Volvo.

Tirthan Valley Tour from Chandigarh for travellers starting from Chandigarh or Punjab.

      Frequently Asked Questions

Get your answers — before you plan your trip.

      FAQs About Himachal Family Packages

How much does the 3 nights 4 days Jibhi and Tirthan Valley family trip cost?

It starts at Rs 12,499 per person on twin sharing (down from Rs 13,440), and that covers your 3-star stay, breakfast and dinner, the Delhi to Aut Volvo both ways, and a private cab for all sightseeing. Flights or trains, entry fees and heater charges are extra. Your final figure depends on group size, room type and travel dates, so we send an itemised quote once you share those.

Are Jibhi Waterfall, Jalori Pass and Serolsar Lake all included in the itinerary?

Yes. The Jibhi waterfall is a short walk on Day 2, and Day 3 is the Jalori Pass drive plus the 5 km trek to Serolsar Lake. You pass through Shoja on the climb to the pass, and Day 4 covers the Great Himalayan National Park. Chehni Kothi, the old wooden tower fort near Jibhi, is not in the base plan but we can add it as a half-day, just ask when you customise.

Is this trip suitable for families with young kids and older parents?

It is one of the easier Himachal options for exactly that reason. You stay in one base for all three nights, so no daily packing and moving, and the sightseeing is cab-based with only short walks. The Serolsar Lake trek is a gentle 5 km forest trail you can shorten or skip. The overnight Volvo does the long-distance driving while everyone sleeps. Tell us the ages and we will pace it accordingly.

Can I customise or extend the itinerary?

Yes, every day here is flexible. Common changes are adding a night in Jibhi or Shoja for a slower trip, swapping the shared cab for a private vehicle, upgrading to a riverside cottage, or bolting on Chehni Kothi or a Great Himalayan National Park day walk. You can also start the road leg from Chandigarh instead of Delhi. Share what you want and we will rebuild the quote around it.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

Your exact cancellation terms, including any free-cancellation window and the refund slabs, are written on your quote before you pay, because they depend on your travel dates and the hotel's own policy. You confirm with an advance and pay the balance before travel. If your dates are not locked yet, tell your coordinator so we can flag the more flexible bookings.

How do we reach Jibhi from Delhi, and is the transport included?

The overnight Volvo from Majnu ka Tilla in Delhi is included both ways. It leaves at 6:00 PM and takes about 12 hours to cover the roughly 495 km to Aut, where our cab meets you for the short drive into Jibhi. Inside the valley, all sightseeing runs on the included cab, so you never need to arrange local transport yourself. Flights or trains, if you prefer them over the Volvo, are not included.

To keep it simple, Agent didn't coordinate with the driver and misguided us owing to which we couldn't complete the itinerary for day 1. On day 2, we have to complete itinerary of day 1 and hence we couldn't complete the schedule of day 2 site seeing. After day 1, the trip advisor demanded the paym
ent. I paid 26k and held 4k and told the agent that I will make the payment only after they coordinate properly on day 2 and complete the commitment properly. They kept on arguing and finally spoiled our trip experience by rigorously following up payment. We don't go on a vacation to argue with people unnecessarily and spoil our mood. The agents should have the basic common sense. They don't even care if their commitment is fulfilled. They are only concerned about money.
