Day-Wise 3 Days Kasol Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight Volvo from Delhi to Kasol

The trip starts the evening before, not the morning of. You board an evening Volvo from Delhi and travel through the night up to the Parvati Valley. It is about 518 km and roughly 14 hours, and because you sleep most of it, you reach the hills fresh the next morning instead of losing a daylight day to the road. Dinner is arranged on the way. Pack a light layer and a neck pillow, keep your ID handy for boarding, and try for a left-side window seat for the river views once you cross Mandi.

Day 2: Kasol Market, Manikaran Sahib and the Parvati Riverside

You reach Bhuntar in the morning and a private vehicle takes you up to your hotel near Jari to check in and freshen up. The rest of the day is the heart of the trip. Start with the Kasol market, a compact strip of Israeli cafes, wool shops and bakeries where the German Bakery and Moon Dance Cafe are the usual first stops. From there you drive to Manikaran Sahib, take a dip in the sulphur hot springs and eat at the gurudwara langar, food cooked over that same natural steam. The Parvati River runs alongside the whole day and gives you the photographs everyone comes back with. Back at the hotel there is an evening bonfire, dinner and your overnight stay.

If you have energy left before dinner, Chalal is the easy add-on. It is a gentle 2 to 3 hour round walk upriver from Kasol through pine and past a couple of cafes, the least strenuous way to feel like you have trekked in the valley. Ask your agent to leave the evening open for it.

Day 3: Malana Village Trek and Return to Delhi

After an early breakfast you drive to the Malana road-head and set off on the guided trek, about 5 km, up to Malana village. The walk crosses waterfalls and forest, and the village itself is one of the oldest self-governing communities in the country with customs all its own. A quick note that keeps you out of trouble: in Malana, visitors are asked not to touch the locals, their homes or shop goods, so follow your guide and buy only where it is allowed. After the trek you come back down, a private cab takes you from Jari to Bhuntar, and you board the Volvo back to Delhi in the evening.
