Day-wise itinerary

Day 1 | Chandigarh to Manali by private cab

Your Himachal honeymoon begins the moment you land in Chandigarh. A private cab is waiting to drive you the 294 km up to Manali, a road trip of about 7 hours 30 minutes that trades the plains for pine forest and the Beas river. Check in, then keep the rest of the day easy. Day 2 | Rohtang Pass snow excursion

After breakfast you are driven up towards Rohtang Pass, about 51 km and 1.5 hours from Manali. Spend the next few hours in the snow. This is where couples try sledging, skiing and yak riding, or just walk the white slopes together. On the way back you stop at Rahalla Falls and Solang Valley, then smaller pit stops at Marhi, Nehru Kund and the local markets before returning to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Good to know: Rohtang Pass is closed from November to May and on Tuesdays. When it is shut, the day switches to the Atal Tunnel and Sissu for snow, or an extended Solang and local sightseeing plan, so nothing is lost. Day 3 | Manali to Kasol via Kullu and Manikaran

Check out after breakfast and drive to Kasol, about 75 km and 2 to 3 hours away. The road runs through the Kullu valley and past the Manikaran Gurudwara, where you can step into the hot springs and take in the calm of the shrine. Kasol itself, sometimes called the mini Israel of India, is a small riverside town made for slow honeymoon evenings. Settle into your hotel, walk down to the Parvati river, and cap the night with a quiet dinner. Meals: breakfast and dinner.

Good to know: trout fishing and angling near Kasol need a permit from the Forest Department.

Day 4 | Kasol to Chandigarh, departure

How to reach Himachal from Chandigarh

Chandigarh is the natural gateway for a Himachal honeymoon. It has the nearest major airport and railway station to Manali, Kullu and Kasol, and the mountain roads start almost as soon as you leave the city. This package handles all of it by private cab, but here is how the routing works.

By road: the direct run is Chandigarh to Manali, 294 km in about 7 to 8 hours on the NH3 through Bilaspur, Mandi and Kullu. If you would rather ease into the hills, the classic alternative is Chandigarh to Shimla (around 115 km, 3.5 to 4 hours), then Shimla to Kufri and on to Manali. We can build either.

By air: the nearest airport to the Manali side is Bhuntar (Kullu), about 50 km from Manali, with limited flights. Most couples fly into Chandigarh and drive up.

By train: the closest broad-gauge railhead to the route is Chandigarh, and it is road from there. If you take the Shimla variant, the Kalka to Shimla heritage toy train is a scenic add-on.

Best time for a Himachal honeymoon

Himachal works for a honeymoon almost year round, but the experience changes month to month.

February to June is the sweet spot for most couples: clear days, cool evenings, and Rohtang and Solang open for snow by late spring. July to September brings the monsoon, which greens the valleys but can trigger landslides on the Kullu road, so keep buffer days. October and November are crisp and quiet, good for couples who want fewer crowds. December to February is deep snow season. Rohtang closes, but Solang, the Atal Tunnel and Sissu still give you snow, and Kasol is at its most peaceful.
