Day 1 // Arrival in Amritsar, Golden Temple and Wagah Border

Our representative meets you at Amritsar airport or railway station and drives you to your hotel to check in and settle. In the afternoon you head out across the city to the Golden Temple, the holiest shrine of the Sikhs, and stay for the langar and the lit-up evening. Then it is on to the Attari-Wagah border for the daily beating-retreat ceremony, where the Indian and Pakistani guards lower their flags to a roaring crowd. Dinner and an overnight stay in Amritsar close the day.

Day 2 // Amritsar to Dharamshala and McLeodganj

After breakfast you check out and drive up to McLeodganj, about 204 km and roughly 5 hours through the Kangra valley. Often called Little Lhasa, McLeodganj is the seat of the Tibetan government in exile and the residence of the Dalai Lama. After checking in you explore the town on foot: the Tsuglagkhang complex and Namgyal Monastery, the Church of St. John in the Wilderness among its deodars, the Tibetan Medical and Astro Institute, and the local monasteries. There is time for the Dharamshala HPCA cricket stadium, one of the highest international grounds in the world, and a walk along Mall Road. Dinner and the night are in Dharamshala.

Day 3 // Dharamshala to Dalhousie

A morning drive takes you from Dharamshala to Dalhousie, about 117 km and 4 hours, crossing into the Chamba district. Dalhousie was built by the British across five low hills and still keeps its old churches, pine walks and quiet Malls. After checking in, the free afternoon is best spent in the town's colonial heart around Gandhi Chowk and Subhash Chowk: St. John's Church, the shaded walk to Subhash Baoli for its valley views, and the short trip out to the Panchpula stream and memorial. Dinner and an overnight stay are in Dalhousie.

Day 4 // Full-day Excursion to Khajjiar

After breakfast you set out for Khajjiar, the saucer-shaped meadow ringed by deodar and pine that earns its Mini Switzerland of India tag. The drive from Dalhousie is about 23 km and climbs through the Kalatop forest, so an early start gives you the clearest meadow before the afternoon clouds gather. At Khajjiar you can circle the small lake at the centre of the bowl, walk the 9-hole golf course, visit the old Khajji Nag temple, or add a stop at Dainkund Peak on the way back. You return to Dalhousie for dinner and the second night there.

Day 5 // Departure from Amritsar
