Shimla Kullu Manali from Mumbai at a glance

A Shimla Kullu Manali tour package from Mumbai solves the one problem every Mumbai traveller hits when planning Himachal: there is no direct flight or train to Shimla or Manali, so the trip has to be pieced together. This 5 nights 6 days package does that for you. You fly Mumbai to Chandigarh (or Delhi), a representative meets you, and a private cab handles every transfer through Shimla, Kufri, Kullu, Manali and Solang Valley before you head home. Rooms, daily breakfast and dinner, and all sightseeing drives are booked and paid in advance, so you land and start the holiday instead of hunting for cabs on a hill road. Price starts at Rs 17,000 per person on twin sharing, and every day of the itinerary can be changed to suit your dates, budget and pace.

How to reach Himachal from Mumbai

There is no direct flight from Mumbai to Manali, and no train runs up to Shimla or Manali either. The quickest way is to fly Mumbai to Chandigarh, then drive up. Here is how the journey breaks down on this package.

    StageDistance (approx)Time (approx)
Mumbai (BOM) to Chandigarh, by flightair sectorabout 2 hr 45 min, direct flights daily
Chandigarh to Shimla, by roadabout 113 kmabout 4 hr
Shimla to Manali, by roadabout 250 kmabout 7 to 8 hr
Manali or Kullu-Bhuntar back to Mumbaireturn legfly Bhuntar to Mumbai via Delhi, or drive to Chandigarh
All-road alternative (Volvo via Delhi)about 1,979 kmabout 40 hr plus, 2 nights on the road

The smart return trick is to fly out of Kullu-Bhuntar airport (about 50 km from Manali) via Delhi instead of driving all the way back to Chandigarh, which saves you a long road day at the end. If you would rather travel by train, the usual plan is Mumbai to Delhi or Chandigarh by rail (roughly a day on the tracks), then an overnight Volvo or a cab into the hills. Your travel expert can set the package to start from whichever airport or station suits your dates. For the full picture of routes and timings, see our Himachal travel guide.

5 nights 6 days itinerary from Mumbai

Day 1 - Arrive in Shimla and see the old colonial heart

After your Mumbai flight and the drive up, a representative meets you and takes you to your Shimla hotel. Check in, freshen up, and spend the afternoon on foot in Shimla's old town. Walk The Ridge, the open promenade at the top of the hill, and step into Christ Church, the yellow neo-Gothic church that has stood over it since 1857. Mall Road and the wood-craft stalls of Lakkar Bazar sit just below for an easy evening browse, and the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, the former Viceregal Lodge, is a short ride away for its lawns and grand architecture. Dinner and overnight in Shimla.

Day 2 - Day trip to Kufri

After breakfast, drive out to Kufri, about 16.8 km and under an hour away. The Himalayan Nature Park here keeps rare antelopes, Himalayan bears, felines and hill birds, and the ridge gives you wide valley views. On the way back, stop at Jakhu Temple, the hilltop Hanuman shrine that looks down over Shimla. Return for temple time and a last stroll on the Mall. Dinner and overnight in Shimla.

Day 3 - Drive to Manali through the Kullu Valley

Breakfast, checkout, and the long, scenic drive to Manali, about 247 km and roughly 7 hr 25 min with stops. The road follows the Beas River through the Kullu Valley, and you break the journey at Pandoh Dam, Sundar Nagar Lake, and the roadside shrines of Hanogi Mata and Kullu's Vaishno Devi Temple. If the water is running, the Kullu river-rafting point is a good stretch-your-legs stop, and the valley's shawl factories are worth a quick look for local weaves. Check in at Manali, dinner and overnight.

    Day 4 - Manali sightseeing

Give the day to Manali itself. Start at the Hadimba Devi Temple, the 1553 cedar-wood shrine set in a deodar forest, then walk over to the nearby Manu Temple in old Manali. Cross the river to Vashisht village for its hot-water springs, and fit in Van Vihar by the Beas for a quiet stretch. The afternoon is free for the Mall Road, the IBEX Market and the Tibetan Monastery (the Himalaya Nyingmapa Buddhist temple) with its prayer wheels and bright murals. Dinner and overnight in Manali.

Day 5 - Solang Valley and the Atal Tunnel side

After breakfast, drive up to Solang Valley, about 13 km from town. This is the adventure stop: skiing in season, plus paragliding, zorbing, the ropeway, and horse and yak rides (these are charged extra and are optional). If the group wants to go higher, the Atal Tunnel now carries you through to Sissu and the Lahaul side in almost any weather, which is the easy modern alternative to the Rohtang Pass (Rohtang needs a permit and stays snowbound much of the year). Travellers who want to add Kasol and the hot springs of Manikaran can extend Day 5, though the core route stays Shimla, Kullu and Manali. Return to Manali for dinner and overnight.

    Day 6 - Departure

Breakfast, checkout, and a transfer to your departure point for the flight or Volvo back towards Mumbai. If your package is set to return via Kullu-Bhuntar, you skip the long backtrack to Chandigarh and fly out from close to Manali. Your trip ends here, with the option to build in a buffer day if your Mumbai flight is later.

    Best time to visit

March to June is the sweet spot for a first Himachal trip from Mumbai. Days are pleasant, the passes open up, and there is still snow at the heights around Solang and Kufri without the deep-winter cold. Mid-December to January is the season to come if snowfall in Manali is the whole point, but pack for real cold and expect the odd road closure. July to September brings the monsoon: the valley turns green and prices dip, but hill roads can block after heavy rain, so keep the plan flexible. Whatever month you pick, carry warm layers, because Himachal evenings stay cool even in summer.

What is included and what is not

Daily buffet breakfast and dinner at the hotelPersonal expenses, tips and porter charges

All destination-hotel-destination transfers, privateRohtang Pass permit and any adventure-activity fees
All applicable taxesTravel insurance (strongly recommended)
Costs from flight delays, weather, or road closures

    Cancellation and refund policy

Every booking on this package is covered by a written cancellation policy that your travel expert shares in your quote before you pay anything. The rule of thumb is simple: the earlier you cancel, the more you get back. Cancel well ahead of departure and the charge is low. Cancel close to the travel date and the refund is smaller, because hotels and the Mumbai-Chandigarh flight are booked and paid in advance, and those costs cannot always be recovered. Some peak-season and flight-inclusive components can be non-refundable once ticketed. Ask your travel expert for the exact day-wise refund slabs for your travel dates in writing before you confirm, so there are no surprises.

Price and what your Rs 17,000 covers

At Rs 17,000 per person on twin sharing, this package covers your five nights of hotels, daily breakfast and dinner, a private cab for the whole trip, and every transfer and sightseeing drive, plus taxes. It does not include your Mumbai flights, lunches, adventure-activity fees or the Rohtang permit, which keeps the headline price honest and lets you add only what you want. For context, premium escorted Himachal tours out of Mumbai often run Rs 42,000 and up per head for a similar length. This is the value pick: a full private-cab itinerary with a complete schema-backed listing, at well under half that. Want a bigger hotel category, an extra night in Manali, or a Kasol add-on? Your expert re-quotes it in minutes.

Is this trip right for you?

This plan suits Mumbai travellers who want the classic Shimla-Kullu-Manali circuit done door to door, without stitching together flights, cabs and hotels themselves. It works well for first-timers, families with kids and elderly parents, and couples, because the pace is steady and every transfer is private. If you are a hardcore trekker chasing multi-day routes, or you want to base in one town the whole trip, tell your expert and the itinerary can be reshaped. Frequently Asked Questions

Get your answers — before you plan your trip.

      Himachal Travel FAQs

Is there a direct flight from Mumbai to Manali?

No. There is no direct flight from Mumbai to Manali, and no railway line reaches Shimla or Manali. The practical route is to fly Mumbai to Chandigarh (about 2 hr 45 min), then drive up: Chandigarh to Shimla is about 4 hours, and Shimla to Manali about 7 to 8 hours. For the return, you can fly out of Kullu-Bhuntar airport via Delhi to avoid the long road backtrack.

How do I reach Shimla Kullu Manali from Mumbai, by flight or by train?

Most travellers fly Mumbai to Chandigarh and continue by private cab, which this package arranges end to end. If you prefer the train, the usual plan is Mumbai to Delhi or Chandigarh by rail, then an overnight Volvo or cab into the hills. A full all-road trip from Mumbai is about 1,979 km and takes two nights each way, so the fly-then-drive option is what most people choose.

How many days are enough for a Shimla Kullu Manali trip from Mumbai?

Five nights and six days is the comfortable minimum for a Mumbai traveller, because a full day goes into flying and transferring at each end. This itinerary gives you two nights around Shimla and Kufri and three nights in Manali with Solang Valley. If you want more relaxed mornings or a Kasol add-on, six or seven nights is ideal.

How much does a Shimla Kullu Manali package from Mumbai cost, and what is included?

This package starts at Rs 17,000 per person on twin sharing. That covers five nights of hotels, daily breakfast and dinner, a private sedan for the whole trip, all transfers and sightseeing drives, and taxes. Mumbai flights, lunches, adventure-activity fees and the Rohtang permit are extra, so you only add what you actually use. Everything is customisable, so ask for a re-quote to match your dates and hotel preference.

Do I need a Rohtang Pass permit, or can I visit Atal Tunnel and Sissu instead?

Rohtang Pass needs a permit and stays snowbound for much of the year, so it is not always open. The easy modern alternative is the Atal Tunnel, which carries you through to Sissu and the Lahaul valley in almost any weather with no permit. Your driver can plan the Solang day around whichever is open on your dates.

What is the best time to visit Shimla Kullu Manali, and which month gets snow?

March to June is the most pleasant window, with open passes and some snow still lingering at the heights. For snowfall in Manali and Kufri, come between mid-December and January and pack for real cold. July to September is the green monsoon season with lower prices, but hill roads can block after heavy rain, so keep the plan flexible.

What should I pack for the snow?

Carry warm layers, a windproof and water-resistant jacket, gloves, a woollen cap and shoes with good grip, especially if you travel between December and February. Even in summer, Himachal evenings are cool, so a fleece and light jacket are useful year-round. Sunglasses and sunscreen matter at altitude, and a small day-pack helps on the Solang and Kufri outings.

      Can I customise this itinerary?

Yes. Every day of this package can be changed. You can add a night in Manali, swap in a Kasol and Manikaran extension, upgrade the hotel category, or change the start and end airports. Tell your TravelTriangle expert what you want and you get a fresh quote, usually within a few minutes.

Is this package suitable for families and senior citizens?

It is. The pace is steady, every transfer is by private cab, and the sightseeing is largely drive-up rather than trek, which suits families with children and elderly travellers. The high-altitude adventure activities at Solang are optional, so anyone who prefers to skip them can relax and enjoy the views instead.

How can I plan and book this trip from Mumbai?

Send a query on this page for free quotes from local Himachal experts. Share your travel dates, group size and budget, and you get a customised plan with hotels, the flight-plus-road routing and a clear price. Once you are happy with the itinerary and the written cancellation terms, you confirm and the whole trip is handled for you.

Himachal trip was good. Hotels they have booked in terms of cleanliness and responsive and quality food. But Shimla location was far though I have preferred this hotel because they come back hotel changing a day before our tour starts. New hotels they proposed seems pathetic and online reviews were
terrible. So I preferred Hotel Himalayan Escape. location is good and hotel is good but its far from Shimla. Travel agent should have advised before things get done. Beauty of the trip is Driver Mr. Mukesh Rana polite man and his service was good. Happy to tour once again with Mukesh bhai. Poor part is Travel agent hasn't in touch after we started tour and 2 days were in Shimla. while booking they have coordinated well. Important fact is we don't know Hindi. Travel Triangle should have control and must avoid these situation in future. We believed Travel Triangle and they assured for great service. Travel Agents are very approachable until they get booked and after disappear. I don't like this attitude.

We just finished a 5 day trip to Shimla & Manali and here is my review. What went well - 1. Liked the way Himachal Hills travels & Rohil behaved through out the tour. They were approachable, humble and good listeners 2. Hotels booked were also good in their services, the staff in both the hotels wer
e excellent in customer management (Apline Hilden in Shimla & Woodbine in Manali) 3. Driver provided was good to us and managed to meet our expectations What can be improved - 1. Communication - Though I see trip to Rhotang pass in the exclusion in the quote but it still reflects in the itinerary which contradicts each other. I had to pay Rs.6200/- extra just for the Madi permit (Rhotang was closed, so we had to go to Madi) and their separate car which was never communicated before nor I ever anticipated 2. Itinerary - The itinerary could have been better managed for Manali. We need to understand why a customer visits Manali during summer? Obviously to see the snow and have some fun but this itself was not included in the list. As a travel agent we could strike a deal with 2 or 3 such vendors who can provide Permit, snow suits etc at a reasonable cost to your customers that's where you can do a better job then any other travel agency or you can deal with these permissions on your own ahead of time for the customers and that would be a "wow factor" and a customer delight 3. The Car AC - While we didn't realize this during our onward journey from Delhi to Shimla and then Shimla to Manali, the return journey was pathetic and tiring since the AC wasn't working. Post we crossed Manali though the AC was ON, it was not cooling at all and driver said he has to service the AC as it is not serviced for quite some time. My wife and kid had to suffer a lot because of this (vomits & weakness) Overall - The trip was nicely arranged and we would cherish these memories lifetime. Thanks to Rohil who have been on top of things to get the best of our journey. I think you need to have a team who can coordinate all these for you instead of you getting into every small things, you just need to oversee things and fix issues in pockets for customers Best Regards, Sandeep

This was our first experience with Travel Triangle. Got to know about the App through a friend. Must admit, it came as a savior for our last minute travel plan. We never knew the possibility of customizing the tour package as per our convenience. Truly great. We have already recommended the App to c
ouple of our friends. We are in all praise for Travel Triangle. In less than a day of posting my query I got response from the travel agents. The follow-up from travel triangle, and the payment options (split into 3) deserves a special mention. Hoping that the service always remains high!
