Day 1 | Arrive and climb to Shimla

Day 2 | Kufri and old Shimla

Back in Shimla the afternoon is for the Christ Church, the Scandal Point promenade and a slow browse of the Lakkar Bazaar, then a quiet dinner as a couple.

Day 3 | Drive to Manali along the Beas

A morning meal, then the road drops to follow the Beas river toward Manali. It is a scenic run: Pandoh Dam, the Kullu valley, and roadside apple country in season. Reach Manali by evening and settle into your base for the next two nights.

Day 4 | Atal Tunnel to Sissu, then Solang

This is the couple day worth waking early for. Instead of the permit-gated, weather-blocked Rohtang Pass that so many itineraries still sell, you drive through the 9.02 km Atal Tunnel to Sissu on the quiet Lahaul side, a snow-fed river and waterfall and far fewer crowds for photos. On the way back, Solang Valley for the ropeway and views before returning to Manali.

Day 5 | Manali to Dharamshala

A relaxed morning around old Manali and the Tibetan monastery, a last look at the Mall, then the drive west to Dharamshala. Check in for the night in the seat of the Dalai Lama, with the Dhauladhar range rising sharp behind the town.

Day 6 | McLeodganj, then on to Dalhousie

Morning in upper Dharamshala, McLeodganj: the Dalai Lama temple complex, St John in the Wilderness church tucked in the deodars, and the cafes along the ridge. In the afternoon you drive on to Dalhousie, the colonial-era hill town that will be your base for the last two nights.

Day 7 | Khajjiar and Chamba

A full day for the postcard. You drive out to Khajjiar, the wide green saucer with a small floating-island lake ringed by deodar forest, the meadow India calls its mini Switzerland. Time to walk it, a horse ride if you like, then the old temples of Chamba before returning to Dalhousie for the evening.

Day 8 | Departure

A last hill breakfast, then a private transfer back to Chandigarh for your onward flight or train, usually by early afternoon depending on your departure time.
