Day-by-day 10-day honeymoon itinerary

Day 1 | Chandigarh, arrival

Our representative meets you at Chandigarh airport or railway station and drives you to your hotel. After you settle in there is time for Sukhna Lake and Chandigarh's gardens, the Rock Garden and the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden. Your first evening is the honeymoon night: a candlelight dinner, a honeymoon cake and a flower-bed room decoration are set up back at the hotel before you turn in.

Day 2 | Chandigarh to Shimla

After breakfast you check out and drive up to Shimla, the old summer capital in the hills, about 113 km and close to 4 hours with the climb. Check in, then walk the Ridge and Mall Road in the evening as the lights come on. Dinner and an overnight stay are at your Shimla hotel.

Day 3 | Shimla and Kufri

After a relaxed breakfast you drive out to Kufri, a small hill station about 17 km from Shimla, roughly a 45-minute run. It is known for the Himalayan nature park and its high-altitude wildlife, including the Himalayan monal. On the way back you stop at the Jakhu temple and a few Shimla viewpoints before returning to the hotel for dinner and the night.

Day 4 | Shimla to Manali

An early breakfast, then check out for the long, scenic drive to Manali, about 250 km and close to 7 hours. The road follows the Beas through the Kullu Valley, and you can break the journey at Pandoh Dam, Sundar Nagar Lake, the Hanogi Mata temple and the Kullu river-rafting point. Check in at Manali for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5 | Manali sightseeing

A slow morning, then a full day around Manali. Start at the Hadimba Devi temple in its cedar grove at Van Vihar, then the Vashisht village with its temple and hot springs. The rest of the day is yours for the Tibetan monastery, the Mall Road and the IBEX market. Dinner and the night are at your Manali hotel.

Day 6 | Manali to Solang Valley

After breakfast you drive out to the Solang Valley, about 12 km up towards the snow line. This is the adventure stretch: zorbing, paragliding, a ropeway, horse and yak rides and, in season, skiing, all payable on the spot if you want them. (Rohtang Pass stays shut from December to May under heavy snow.) Back in Manali the evening is free before dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7 | Manali to Dharamshala

Breakfast, check out, and a full day's drive to Dharamshala, about 240 km and near 7 hours. It is a quieter, greener chapter after the high mountains. Check in, then a relaxed dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8 | Dharamshala to Dalhousie

After breakfast and check-out you tour McLeod Ganj: St. John's Church in the Wilderness, the Dalai Lama temple, the Bhagsunag temple and waterfall, and the market. In the afternoon you drive on to Dalhousie, a hill town spread across five low hills. Check in and spend the evening at leisure, with dinner and the night at your Dalhousie hotel.

Day 9 | Dalhousie and Khajjiar

Breakfast with a view, then a short drive to Khajjiar, about 23 km away, the wide meadow ringed by cedars that gets called India's mini Switzerland. There is zorbing and paragliding here too if you are game. Return to Dalhousie for dinner and your last night in the hills.

Day 10 | Dalhousie to Chandigarh, departure

One last slow breakfast before check-out. You are driven back down to Chandigarh, arriving by evening for your drop at the airport or railway station, and that is where the trip ends.
