Overview
Bandhavgarh has a rich historical past. Before declaring it as a national park, it was a forest known as a Shikargah or Game Drive. Bandhavgarh is located in the Umaria district of Eastern Madhya Pradesh. Covering an area of around 450sqkms it is home to a spectacular variety of flora and fauna.
The forest area forms a natural habitat for more than 250 species of birds and 22 species of animals. Vegetation includes thick grasslands and tall trees. The park is majorly inhabited by white tigers but it also provides shelter to several other Indian wild species like Cheetahs, Langurs, Bison and Sambars. Also, it has a large population of tigers.
The beautiful trees and grasslands of Bandhavgarh attract numerous tourists from all over the world. The park remains at its best during the spring season. The ideal time to explore wildlife in the park is from January to March. Bandhavgarh has no direct air connectivity, the nearest airport is at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. Reach Jabalpur on your own and then you will be picked up from the railway station or airport and you will be taken to the hotel booked for you. Relax and freshen up after completing check-in formalities. Later get ready for sightseeing and enjoy boating at Marble Rocks at the World Famous waterfall Bhedaghat.
You can opt for a special lunch at the Bhedaghat waterfall which is at your own cost, while you enjoy the scenic beauty of Dhuadhar. Having everything done, we head to visit the Chausath Yogini temple. A traditional Narmada Aarti is scheduled on the banks of Narmada River and if time permits, we will attend the same.
