Dalhousie Khajjiar Tour Package 2026 at a Glance
Khajjiar is why people book this route. It is a wide, saucer-shaped meadow ringed by cedar with a small lake at its centre, sitting at around 1,950 m about 24 km on from Dalhousie, and on a clear morning it earns the "Mini Switzerland of India" name it goes by. Dalhousie itself is a small hill town the British laid out in the 1850s, so you can walk its churches, springs and mall road in an afternoon and keep a full day free for the meadow. Four days is enough to add Dalhousie, Khajjiar and a Chamba side trip without rushing. For the wider Himachal picture, our Himachal travel guide covers seasons, routes and permits in detail.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Dalhousie and an evening in town
Your trip begins from Delhi. A private vehicle brings you up to Dalhousie, a road journey of about 560 km that most people do overnight, and the drive itself is part of the appeal as deodar slopes and the first Dhauladhar views open well before town. If you would rather take the train, Pathankot is the nearest railhead, about 85 to 90 km away, and your agent arranges the cab from there. Check in, take the welcome drink, and the evening is yours. Walk up to Subhash Chowk for the wide view over the valley and the snow line, then drop down to Gandhi Chowk, the mall and main market, for Chamba handicrafts and a first plate of local food. Dinner and the night are at the hotel.
Day 2: A full day in Khajjiar, the Mini Switzerland of India
After breakfast you drive out to Khajjiar, the day this package is built around. On the way you can stop at Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary, about 13 km from Dalhousie, a hushed deodar and oak forest with an easy, level walk to the forest rest house. Close by is Dainkund Peak, at around 2,745 m the highest point near Dalhousie, known as the singing hill for the sound of wind through its grass. A 20 to 30 minute walk from the road reaches the small Pholani Devi temple and a clean sweep of the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges. Then the meadow opens up. Khajjiar has a small lake at its heart with the twelfth-century Khajji Nag temple and the much-photographed golden-domed Devi temple on its rim, and the open grass has room for a horse ride around the lake, a turn at zorbing, or paragliding when the season is on. It is a slow, easy day made for photographs. You are back in Dalhousie by evening for dinner.
Day 3: Chamba, Chamera Lake and Dalhousie sightseeing
Today combines a short drive out and the best of Dalhousie town. Head first towards Chamba, about an hour on, and stop at Chamera Lake, the wide reservoir on the Ravi where you can take a short boat ride and, in season, try jet-skiing off the jetty. Chamba town itself is worth a slow hour for the Chaugan promenade and the old Lakshmi Narayan temple complex. Back in Dalhousie you round off the sightseeing on foot: St John Church, built in 1863 at Gandhi Chowk and the oldest in town, and St Patrick Church at Balun, the largest in the area, both plain stone chapels that have aged well. Then Panchpula, where a stream splits into five channels near the memorial to freedom fighter Sardar Ajit Singh, and Satdhara, the seven springs whose mineral water locals have long valued. Dinner and the night are at the hotel.
Day 4: Departure
After breakfast you check out and your private cab takes you onward, whether that is the drive back to Delhi, a transfer to Pathankot for the train, or Kangra airport for a flight. If your timing allows, ask your agent to build in one last stop on the way down, a viewpoint or a market, so the last morning is not only about the road home.
Things to Do: Adventure and Experiences
Beyond the sightseeing, the Dalhousie and Khajjiar circuit has a short, genuine list of things you can actually book on the ground. None of it is extreme, which is why it suits families and first-time hill travellers.
• Zorbing on the Khajjiar meadow: rolling downhill inside a clear ball, a favourite with kids and a quick photo win for everyone else.
• Horse riding around the Khajjiar lake: a gentle loop of the meadow, arranged with the local handlers right at the ground.
• Paragliding at Khajjiar when the season and weather allow: a short tandem flight over the meadow with a certified pilot.
• Boating and jet-skiing at Chamera Lake: a calm boat ride on the Ravi reservoir, with faster options off the jetty for those who want them.
• Easy forest walks at Kalatop and the 20 to 30 minute climb to Dainkund Peak: the two best short walks of the trip, both suitable for beginners.
Activity charges are paid locally and are not part of the package price. If you want a trip built more around adventure, tell your agent and they can weight the itinerary that way. For a wider set of Khajjiar tour packages, including longer routes, see the Khajjiar collection.

Price, Booking and Cancellation Policy
The package starts at Rs 15,000 per person on twin sharing, down from Rs 15,957, and covers stay, meals, private transport and sightseeing for four days. What moves the price is the season, your hotel category, and group size: peak months and snow season cost more, and a larger group brings the per-head rate down. You customise the itinerary and get quotes from verified local agents first, so nothing is locked in until you approve it. Booking is by "Customize and Get Quotes" on this page, or call 1800-123-5555.
On cancellation, the representative policy is a free window well ahead of travel, a part refund closer in, and no refund once the trip is about to start. As a guide, cancellations up to 30 days before departure are fully refundable, 15 to 30 days carry a part charge, and inside 7 days are non-refundable. Your agent confirms the exact refund slab in writing with your quote, since hotel and transport terms vary by season. That single written confirmation is what protects you, so read it before you pay.
Fares and inclusions on this page are checked by our Himachal desk against the live booking system before each update, and the package is backed by 368 traveller reviews from real bookings.
