By road it is about 470 to 490 km and 10 to 12 hours, usually driven overnight by private cab or Volvo. The nearest airport is Gaggal (Kangra, DHM) about 13 km away, with limited Delhi flights. The nearest railhead is Pathankot, about 85 km, followed by a road transfer.

February to June is the sweet spot, with clear, pleasant days and spring highs around 25 degrees Celsius. September to November is quieter and green after the monsoon. July and August bring heavy rain to the Dhauladhars, and December to January can bring snow to the upper ridges.
