Overview

A part of South Bihar, Gaya holds high historical significance and is considered a major tourist attraction in the state. A tourist would be left spellbound by the architectural masterpieces as well as the rich insights of the history of Indian philosophy, found at Gaya. Here’s a glimpse of some the place that you get to visit through this tour package.

The Mahabodhi temple

The Mahabodhi Temple, also known as the Great Temple of the Awakening is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Bodhgaya, Bihar. It is a Buddhist temple that represents the spot where it is said that the Lord Buddha has achieved enlightenment. Lord Buddha has a very important place in India's religious history, as he is believed to be Lord Vishnu's 9th and most recent incarnation.

Chinese temple

The Buddhist monks built the Chinese Temple. This includes magnificent Chinese artwork inside the sanctum with a bust of Lord Buddha

Root Institute for Wisdom Culture

Root Institute of Culture of Wisdom is a Buddhist Centre that educates and encourages a culture of wisdom through programs and social services. It works according to Tibetan tradition and is often known as a religious retreat that provides a calm environment for learning and observing culture in its true form.

Great Buddha Statue

The XIV Dalai Lama built this statue of Lord Buddha in the year 1989. It is the tallest statue of Buddha in India. With intricately carved red granite and sandstone, the statue features a massive lotus and Lord Buddha sitting on it.

Tibetan refugee market

A paradise for shopaholics, this market provides numerous souvenirs, handicrafts and winter wear in a large range of varieties.

Bodhi Tree, Bodh gaya

It is believed that Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under this tree. Many Kings may have destroyed the original Bodhi tree, but even today the direct offspring flourish at a height of 80 feet.

Vishnupad Temple

Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, as the name suggests, the temple features a 40 cm long footprint of the lord and a basin of silver plates encloses the same. This footprint signifies Lord Vishnu's act of subduing Gayasur by putting his feet on the head of Gayasur.

Kashi

This complexity and density of the culture in this city starts right from its name. While it is known as Kashi among a lot of people, there are also people who refer to this city as Varanasi and Benaras. It is a melting pot of many Indian cultures, due to which it holds great importance in the Indian landscape. Most specifically, it is of paramount stature among the people who worship the Hindu and Jain faiths. The River Ganga flows through much of this city, which has led to it becoming one of the prime pilgrimage sites for lakhs of people, be it simply on a pilgrimage for their own satisfaction, or to perform the last rites of a family member. It is also home to the well-renowned Banaras Hindu University.
