Spiti Valley Tour Package From Chandigarh 2026 (6D/5N): Overview
Updated August 2026
This 6 day, 5 night trip runs the classic overland approach to Spiti from Chandigarh: up through Shimla into the Kinnaur valley, along the Sutlej to Sarahan, Sangla and Chitkul, and on to Kalpa under the Kinner Kailash range. It is the gateway leg every Spiti circuit begins with, and it is a genuine high-Himalaya route in its own right, apple orchards, old Kinnauri villages and river gorges the whole way.
Be clear on one thing before you book, because most listings blur it. This fixed itinerary reaches Kalpa in Kinnaur, not the deep Spiti core around Kaza. That is the honest scope, and it is also the most reliable and beginner-friendly stretch of the region. If you want the full loop to Kaza, Key Monastery, Langza and Chandratal, we extend the same trip on request (see the deeper-Spiti section below). Prices start at Rs 32,463 per person on twin sharing, and every day is customisable.
Planning the wider trip? Compare start points and durations on our Himachal tour packages from Chandigarh page, or read the full region guide on the Spiti Valley travel guide.
| Starting price | Rs 32,463 per person, twin sharing (Rs 32,463 to Rs 35,286 by season and hotel) |
| Duration | 6 Days & 5 Nights |
| Route | Chandigarh, Shimla, Sarahan, Sangla, Chitkul, Kalpa (classic overland approach to Spiti) |
| Best months | May to October, when the Kinnaur roads are clear of snow |

| Customisable | Extend from Kalpa deeper into Spiti (Kaza, Tabo, Chandratal) on request; add or drop nights |
Booked and checked by our Himachal desk
This package is built and run by a verified local operator, not resold from a marketplace, and backed by real traveller reviews for the Kinnaur-Kalpa route. Every departure is customisable, and our team is on call before and during the trip on 1800-123-5555.
"Leave Shimla by 8 am on Day 2. The road narrows past Rampur and the afternoon traffic at Jeori eats into your light, so an early start is what gets you into Kalpa with the Kinner Kailash still lit."
Fares, hotel category and the season window on this page are checked by our Himachal desk against the operator 2026 sheet.
Day by day itinerary
The real route, written honestly. All six days are yours to shift or extend.
Day 1: Chandigarh to Shimla
You are met at Chandigarh airport or railway station and driven up to Shimla, about 112 km. On the way you stop at Pinjore Garden, the 17th-century Mughal terraced garden also called Yadavindra Garden, and pass Barog and Solan. Check in at Shimla by evening. Dinner and overnight stay in Shimla.
Day 2: Shimla to Sarahan
After breakfast you leave Shimla for Sarahan, a small hamlet on a Sutlej ridge at about 2,165 m and the last town before the Kinnaur gorge proper. En route you pass Kufri and Narkanda. The rest of the day is free once you check in. Dinner and overnight stay in Sarahan.
Day 3: Sarahan to Sangla
The morning starts with darshan and the aarti at the Bhimakali Temple, a Shakti Peetha with distinctive Kinnauri-Tibetan tiered architecture. After breakfast you continue to the Sangla valley, stopping at the Jeori hot springs and crossing Karcham. Check in at Sangla. Dinner and overnight stay in Sangla.
Day 4: Sangla, Chitkul and on to Kalpa
Sangla is the apple-and-saffron valley of the Baspa river. You drive out to Chitkul, the last inhabited village before the Tibet border at about 3,450 m, and visit Kamru Fort, now a temple to Goddess Kamakhya. In the afternoon you head to Kalpa. Dinner and overnight stay in Kalpa.
Day 5: Kalpa to Shimla
A slow morning in Kalpa for the Kinner Kailash views, then a short visit to Roghi village with its old timber houses and Kali temple before the long drive back down to Shimla. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay in Shimla.
Day 6: Shimla to Chandigarh, departure
After breakfast you are driven back to Chandigarh airport or railway station in time for your onward flight or train. Trip ends.
What lies deeper in Spiti, and how to add it
This trip ends at Kalpa, but the road does not. From here the Spiti circuit carries on over the high desert to Nako, then Tabo with its thousand-year-old monastery, Dhankar above the river confluence, and Kaza, the valley headquarters. Around Kaza sit the postcard stops most people picture when they say Spiti: Key Monastery on its ridge, Langza with its fossils and Buddha statue, Hikkim and its high-altitude post office, Komic, Kibber, and the drive over Kunzum Pass to Chandratal lake.
We do not pretend the fixed 6-day plan reaches those places, because it does not. What we do is build the extension for you: add three to four days from Kalpa onward and the same trip becomes the full Kinnaur-to-Spiti loop. Tell us at booking and we will price it. For a ready-made deep-Spiti option, see our full Spiti Valley tour packages.

Best time to go from Chandigarh
Plan this trip between May and October. That is when the Kinnaur roads to Kalpa and Chitkul are reliably clear of snow and the passes are open. From mid-October the higher stretches start to see snowfall that can last into May, which is also why the deeper Spiti extension over Kunzum Pass only runs in the short summer window. For pace, allow the full six days; the mountain roads are slow and worth taking slowly.
Cancellation and booking policy
You book with a part payment to confirm the dates and hotels, with the balance due before departure. Cancellations are refundable on a sliding scale depending on how many days before travel you cancel, with charges rising as the date approaches. Because hotels and vehicles in Kinnaur are booked ahead in peak season, cancellations close to departure carry higher charges. We will send the exact tier for your dates in writing at booking.
Ready to plan it
Tell us your dates and how far into Spiti you want to go, and we will shape the 6-day Kinnaur-Kalpa trip, or its Kaza extension, around you. Start from our Himachal tour packages from Chandigarh or call 1800-123-5555.
