The island has a wealth of destinations for those stricken with wanderlust. Beautiful sandy beaches, like historical monuments, religious shrines, are packed into this tiny island from coast to coast. The region boasts natural wonders, ranging from waterfalls to sea-eroded rock formations, museums brimming with the region’s unique art and historical artifacts, even a footbridge designed to look like a massive sea dragon!
Around the middle of the year, while the rainfall is high, the cool climate that comes with it makes for a comfy experience. If this is catching your fancy, TravelTriangle’s package for a tour across Taiwan in May is right up your alley. Here’s a taste of what this package has to offer.
Taroko National Park
One of Taiwan’s prime destinations, Taroko National Park is as dense as it is sprawling. The shrine is devoted to 212 veterans who died during the construction of Central-Cross Island highway, the place also gives a view of the surrounding greenery, as it is built right above the Changchun Waterfall. The Swallow Grotto, a winding path, passes through multiple tunnels, providing a stunning view of the Taroko Gorge’s narrowest portion, showcasing the Liwu river’s full might just below. As if all of this weren’t enough, Taroko National Park is also home to a 21 km range of cliffs that rise to 450m, directly from the Pacific Ocean, known as the Qingshui Cliff
Matai’an Wetland Ecological Park
It is home to a delicate ecosystem, with a variety of birds, fish, and other aquatic life. The bike trail that goes through the park makes for a tranquil adventure, while the water lilies and lotuses that cover the Wetland from May to August make for a wondrous sight. It also gives you the chance to experience the local Palakaw fishing method, a unique invention of the local Amis people.
