Vietnam and Cambodia 24th Feb to 3rd March.
We started in Vietnam, Hanoi to be exact, and it was a great start. It was pretty cold (around 19 degrees C) and Jeane informed us pretty much in ad...
vance so that we could pack properly. We stayed in Hanoi Romance Hotel in Old Quarter, which is the heart of the city and so many places to see, eat and shop. The only complaint, if you force me to say would be the breakfast buffet in the hotel. We have pretty early schedules for the tour and were also informed that the buffet starts by 6.00 am but it wasn't ready and did not have a few basic items. We told them and they immediately responded and catered to our request. Overall lovely staff and they took care of us.
DONT MISS:
1.Haon Kiem Lake (a slow walk around the lake will give you a chance to interact with the locals and take in the lovely scene. A few temples around the lake are a must see)
2.Walking Street (Starts at 7.00pm, food, booze and fun. Be careful, avoid the balloon or go for it... if you are ok with that :D)
3.Street Shopping (Bargain Bargain Bargain....they yield.....but pay an honest price to the craft, its worth it)
I'd suggest you to try the local food on the streets...just grab a stool and eat.
People speak English so no worries. About dressing, you can wear anything. Just check the temperature before you visit.
The Vietnam open tour took us around the city, we visited all the places in our list like Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of literature, Museum of ethnology and met a few people who became good friends :)
And don' miss out the water puppet show.
Halong Bay was the topping of the tour. We were treated like royals and had food fit for the kings in the White Dolphin Cruise. They catered to my mom's request of vegetarian food too. They were very sweet and saw that we were taken care of. It was so breathtaking, that we din' feel like coming back. The Lime stone formations are lovely, even though I googled before I went, it went beyond expectations.
Next was Cambodia, Siem Reap. We were warmly greeted by our driver and Mr.Pirob, our guide and he is by far the most sweetest people I have ever met. The hotel Mother Home Boutique was so pleasant and the food was great. They cater to our taste on request and are very kind, sincere and helpful. The staff were amazing and helped in any queries we had for them.
Our first visit was to Kulen mountains and it was so beautiful. Its a pretty hot in Cambodia and the waterfalls cool you just right. The sleeping buddha and the 1000 Shiva lingas transport to the times of the olden days.
The Angkor Wat, the best closing to this lovely trip was beyond what we could expect. But I just hope we had a little bit more time. One day is surely not enough if you are interested in History, Architecture and the culture. I suggest to make it at least a two day visit, there are other temples that are still untouched that shouldn't be missed. Our guide Mr.Pirob took utmost care of us, that we dont even have minor complaints.
The evenings are pretty much left to yourself, so please go visit Night Street, Old Street and PUB Street. All are close by so just take a tuk tuk from your hotel. Ask them what are the rates and stick to them.
Eat, Shop, or just walk and get a massage (you will be walking a lot in Angkor Wat). A nice way to unwind the day.
Dressing: Whatever pleases you. Except Angkor Wat and the Temple Complex, No sleeveless and no short shorts.
S Viet Travels, Jeane was such a darling and was in contact with us through whatsapp and saw that we had a good time. Such a warm person and organised the tour the way we wanted, and helped me get the local sim card too. Thank you so much.
And Travel Triangle Praveen, Megha and Yash, thank you so much for organizing the flights and the trip to a tee. A wonderful supportive bunch of people.
Tip to the travelers;
There are so many beautiful places to see in both the countries, so i suggest you visit one country at a time. Google all the places before you confirm your quote, ask them various itineraries, and choose as per your whim.
And in the end, A HAPPY TRAVELER signing off.

Our Vietnam trip, organized by Joanna Tran from Asia Luxury Travel, was a flawless and enriching experience from start to finish. Every aspect, from the hotels to the travel guides, was excellent...
. The guides not only provided seamless transitions between destinations but also offered insightful explanations about Vietnam’s rich history, including its war history and the significance of Buddhism.
The tour was carefully curated to ensure we had a wholesome experience. We enjoyed the lively party and nightlife of Ho Chi Minh City, and learned about the country’s war history at the Cu Chi Tunnels.
In Da Nang, we had a relaxing beach escape, exploring the Marble Mountain and the impressive Lady Buddha statue. Our one-night stay in Hoi An was magical, as we immersed ourselves in the local culture, food, and released lanterns along the river—an unforgettable experience.
In Hanoi, we got a glimpse of city life and visited the iconic Train Street. The grand finale was the Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay tour, highlighted by a visit to Cat Ba Island. The 5-star cruise, Velar of the Sea, was the crown jewel of the trip, offering a luxurious and unforgettable experience.
We are incredibly thankful to Joanna and Asia Luxury Travel for creating such a seamless, well-rounded journey, and highly recommend their services to anyone planning a Vietnam adventure!

Over all experience is good. Travel agents are very supportive throughout the tour. Most of places we found vegetarian food, so that is very well arranged by travel agency.
Only at the cruise e...
xperience was not so great, we had given promises by travel agency that the cruise is being upgraded, but it was small boat with only 25 guest and we didn't have private balcony and we saw all very good looking cruise arround us with private balcony, so don't feel so great there.
Also at da nang our trip starts at 3:30 pm afternoon but we had to check out early at 12 and for 3 & half hours we were sitting in lobby in high humidity and had nothing to do arround.
I think these things travel agency can do better.
