How to Reach Bukhara

Airway is the only means to reach the land of Uzbekistan where Bukhara is. However, it is not very far from India and it takes approximately 3 and a half hours to reach the city. There is no direct flight to Bukhara and flights have at least two stops. But, most of the flights have three or four stops and the total time flights take is more than 20 hours.

Best Time to Visit Bukhara

The city has an extreme continental climate to deal with. Spring and Fall seasons are considered as the best season for a Bukhara tour.

March-May (spring)

During the months of March to May, the skies give a clear view and the weather is pleasant to enjoy the city's sight.

June - August (summer)

The time between June and August is considered the most visited time by travelers. If you want to enjoy a lovely sunshine, you can surely enjoy a vacation during these months.

September - November (fall)

After Spring, Autumn is the best time to plan a trip to Bukhara. The temperature starts lowering down, hence the weather is pleasant and perfect for sightseeing.

December - February (winter)

January and February are the coldest months of winter season and temperature can fall down to 1 degree Celsius. You can make the most of your vacation during this time as well.

Places to Visit in Bukhara

The city is divided into two parts i.e., the Old Bukhara and the New Bukhara. Both parts have different attractions for tourists but Old Bukhara is a hub of beautiful minarets and Madrasahs.

Ark Fortress

Ark which means Citadel has been a symbol of the state’s power for millennia. The massive white citadel is a place of a number of museums, a mosque and old stables. The evening view of the fortress is a spectacular sight to behold. The fortress used to be a military fort and entrance since the 5th century.

Poi Kalon ensemble

One of the most beautiful part of old Bukhara is surrounded by the Kalon minaret, the Kalon mosque, and the Miri Arab Madrasah which make this courtyard a must-visit the place. The Kalon Minaret which means Great Minaret was built in 1127 AD with a height of 47 meters.

Ismail Samani Mausoleum

The oldest monument of Bukhara is surrounded by a number of tree and canals and is situated in Samanidov Park. In 1934, the Ismail Samani Mausoleum rediscovered from destruction made by flood and it was the time when Genghis Khan invaded the city.

Chor Minor Madrassah

Chor Minor means four towers or minarets. This charming building has four turquoise domes. However, these four minarets were not made to be used as religious minarets. Instead of being a tall building, to catch its glimpse, you will need to reach the old monument of Bukhara.

Bolo Khauz Mosque

Bolo Khauz Mosque has beautifully and intricately carved wooden pillars and it has geometrical and frescoes patterns lovely ceiling mounted on the pillar. Travelers can visit the mosque while visiting Ark citadel as it is only a hundred meters away from it. There is a beautiful pond in front of the sacred place for visitors to sit and relax.
