South Africa Tour Package From Mumbai

Mumbai is a wonderful city to live in, especially if you’ve been here your whole life. You’re used to the pace of everything here, the convenience of all the facilities and all the comforts it brings.
It can also get a little too familiar at times. It’s the same routes you have to take to all the places you need to be, the same people, the same weather. Sometimes you just need something different to inject a bit of excitement in your life. Nicknamed to be the “rainbow nation” South Africa has as much diversity in its natural surroundings and the attractions it offers to visitors as it does in the people who live there. It had its struggles with the societal demon of racism in the past, but it is on its way to becoming a more inclusive, compassionate society. All of this reflects in the culture that has been built up there in this day and age. Combine that along with the vegetation and the landscape that has never truly lost its lustre and you suddenly have a vast stretch of land that covers a huge chunk of the southern half of the African continent and you have an exhilarating place that is sure to give a rewarding experience to anyone who chooses to journey through it. Book a South Africa tour package from Mumbai and go on a magnificent adventure that will give you stories to tell for years to come.

Table Mountain

Look eastwards from anywhere in the city of Cape Town and you’ll see a giant rock structure that goes up into the sky and above the clouds, flanked by two peaks on either side of it, making for a rather dramatic and spectacular backdrop to the city below. This rock structure is the famous Table Mountain of South Africa and the two peaks that flank it is the Lion’s Head further to its northeast, nearer to the coast, and the Devil’s Peak, which you’ll see if you point your vision towards the southwest from the top of it.

Apartheid Museum

Not quite as adventurous and lighthearted of a visit as most of the other features within South Africa’s borders, the Apartheid Museum is still an important monument that is a scathing indictment of a dark time in South Africa’s history. The Museum functions on the principle of “show, don’t tell” with its rather unconventional presentation. People who decide to enter the Museum are given a ticket which instructs them to either enter via one of two gates, “white” and “non-white”. The ticket given to you does not relate to your actual ethnicity but is simply a sobering example of how segregation works. Each gate leads to a different set of displays as well.

Ideal Duration

You’d have to spend about 15 days with one of our South Africa tour packages from Mumbai to truly get a grasp of everything the country has to offer.

Best Time to Visit

Spring From August to October, South Africa shows off some of its rarer sights. There are certain flowers that are only in bloom during this time and certain other wildlife phenomena that are only possible to observe during this season of spring. This makes it the prime time to go on one of South Africa’s many famous jungle safaris. Temperatures during this time are on the cooler side, averaging to about 13 °C. The climate is also fairly dry at this time of the year.

Summer

The summer temperatures in South Africa do shoot up significantly when compared to the springtime on average, measuring in at around 24?. This season, which lasts from November to January, also brings a rush of tourists to South Africa as a lot of its activities are best experienced in this weather.

Autumn

The autumn season in South Africa runs from February to April. If a good hike is what you’re looking for, travelling around the country at this time of the year is your best bet, as the golden sheen that South Africa’s vegetation gets at this time is a sight to behold. Average temperatures drop slightly from those experienced in the summer, down to 21?.

Winter

Winters in South Africa get fairly cold, with an average reading of the mercury coming up to about 8 °C. It is the driest spell of the year in South Africa, with minimal rainfall. The days often come with bright, sunny and clear skies, with the chill creeping in only during the nighttime. The direction of the tidal winds also makes the winter months of May, June and July the peak season for those looking to surf on South Africa’s waves.

How to Reach

By Air

Most flights from the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai that head towards South Africa land at the O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. Flight durations are within the 10 to 15-hour range, requiring at least a single layover, which may come on Mahe Island, Doha, Nairobi, even Dubai, sometimes requiring a transit visa.

By Rail

Taking the train to South Africa from Mumbai is not an option due to the lack of the availability of a train route between the two countries.

By Road

Mumbai and South Africa are almost half a world away, so despite being connected by land, driving there is not really a workable option.

FAQs About South Africa Tour Packages

How big is South Africa?

South Africa takes up a decent chunk of the African continent, measuring in at 1.22 million sq km out of the continent’s total area of 30.37 million sq km., with a population of about 5.67 crores living there.

What foods are among South Africa’s most popular dishes?

Cape Malay curry is a dish that encapsulates South Africa’s storied colonial past. Despite being wholly South African, it does show influences from Malaysian and Indian cuisine, with the use of spices such as saffron and turmeric. Another example of this influence is in the popular street food of Bunny Chow. Essentially South Africa’s Vada Pav, Bunny Chow takes an entire hollowed-out loaf of bread and stuffs it with spicy curry, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian.

Which festivals do the South African people celebrate?

Kaapse Klopse, or the Cape Town Minstrel Carnival, is exactly what it sounds like - a huge parade through the streets of the city. People who are part of the parade dress up in costumes as they dance to traditional music as well as some jazzy tunes. The Knysna Oyster Festival is also an annual event here. It is a celebration of the oyster itself and has over 100 events, including everything from oyster shucking competitions to marathons.

The team at TravelLykke have been very professional in their approach right through. They have been very patient and understanding of the requirements and accommodative to all kinds of doubts and queries and options too. Fairly transparent in the dealings and have a good set of on-ground contacts in S Africa who too have been professional and on time without delays and exceptions. A suggestion: there were some legs where we were informed we need to take Uber (to & fro Robben Island & Table Top Mountain). For the kind of spends done by us (Rs 3 Lakhs +) overall, it would have been helpful if these too could have been accommodated in the package. It is the nuisance value of having to book, wait etc. Also more minute detailing of the Full day Cape Peninsula tour could have been share earlier - we got it on landing from the local guide and it was very educative. Why not share this ahead of time? Some travel agencies give a backpack or travel kit (the amount of Rs 3 Lakhs is HUGE) with your branding. In this case it is singularly absent. Wonder why? We stayed in 3 hotels - Emerald Guest house in Johannesburg (Rating Poor to Good only); Kruger Park Adventure Lodge ( Excellent); Holiday Inn Express at Cape Town (Excellent).

The trip was very well organised and all our requirements were met. We had issues due to flight delays and we were late for one tour, our travel planner Mrs Prerna was very helpful and proactive to adjust the tours to accommodate everything. From last minute hotel booking to providing rental car , she was quick to respond and also regular reminders before trips to ensure smooth communication between us and South African operators. Would surely recommend their services The views with clouds sliding in all around the mountains and ocean at the cape point during the cape peninsula tour.

We had an amazing trip to South Africa. It is a beautiful country to visit with very hospitable people around. Everything went well without any hiccups. The hotels, cab drivers and other details were well planned by Nikhil from Besten/MK Holidays, special thanks to him. Some elements which can be improved were the visits planned during our stay at Knysna as they were quite some distance away from our hotel. Will definitely recommend Travel Triangle to others for planning their trips.

Utkarsh's 7 days trip to South Africa

Would recommend the location to everyone for a must-visit Bucket list item. Would NEVER recommend the travel agent to anyone regarding any trip. About the destination: South Africa is definitely one of the best places to visit in the months of January. The weather is pleasant throughout the day with light breezes greeting you wherever you go. We were really lucky with our safari in Kwantu as we were able to sight almost all of the variety of wildlife that they have in the reserve. The stay at Kwantu was also equally comfortable. Knysna and Oudtshoorn were another pair of scenic locations and the drive from Port Elizabeth to Kwantu to Knysna & Oudtshoorn was undoubtedly one of the best drives I have ever had. The visit to Cape Town was as exciting as we were expecting and the city welcomed us with a marvelous evening sky as we drove in. The local sightseeing service available in the city was a good enough option as it drove us through almost all the places of interest within and around the city. The Table Top Mountain did live to it's grandeur and the view from up top was really breathtaking. The entire Cape peninsula as well as the town were so tiny yet so vast. The Cape Peninsula tour on the next day was equally interesting, covering the entirety of the Cape of Good Hope, the Botanical garden, Hout Bay Harbour and the most awaited Jackass Penguin colony in Boulders beach. About the travel agent: The approach of MKHolidays before and after the first payment for the trip was in dire contrast. While they were following up with us multiple times throughout the day with even minor changes in the itinerary before we made the first payment, after that we had to call them up over 4-5 times for every update or voucher request. We did no get the hotel vouchers till the very last week of our travel. The flight ticket from Johannesberg to Port Elizabeth were given to us at midnight just before the day of our flight. Without that, we had been stranded in JoBerg with no onward flight tickets. The downpayment for the car rental which was included in the travel package had not been made and I had to pay for the same from my pocket. Upon arrival in Cape Town, when we went to Holiday Inn (a 4-star property), we were told that there was no booking in our name and the hotel voucher given to us for that place was invalid. All calls to MKHolidays went unanswered & the Travel Triangle representative merely shrugged off saying that he would not be able to help as the bookings were under the agent's purview. I had to pay for the first night from my own pocket. Upon the next day, I was told that the hotel booked for me was the Holiday Inn Express (a 3-star property), even though the package specifically included the other property. We reluctantly moved to Holiday Inn Express, only to realize that our booking there was cancelled due to a no-show the previous night. We had to wait for a longer time for the bookings to get re-listed. The vouchers for each day's activity were given to us only on the previous midnight. This caused an aura of uncertainty throughout our trip as we never knew what time we had to wake up the next day for the pickup. Had South Africa not been that marvelous a country, the callous approach of the travel agent during the trip would definitely have ruined the experience for us.
