Although not the capital, it is Ahmedabad which is more connected with the rest of the country and the world. Going from Ahmedabad to Bhutan is not very difficult a task. It can be approached by various means of transport. However, flying remains the most convenient and economical way to go from Ahmedabad to Bhutan. Here it is explained how to reach Bhutan from Ahmedabad by air, road, and railways.

By Air: International flights to Bhutan from India flies only from limited cities. Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Bagdogra are the airports with the privilege to fly to Paro. The main airport of Bhutan is situated at Paro, which receives daily flights run by Druk Air from different international locations, including Bangkok and Kathmandu. Thus there is no direct Ahmedabad to Paro flight. However, one can easily fly to any of the four cities that are connected to Paro with a flight to avail the Ahmedabad to Bhutan by air journey. The first part of the journey can be made with any Indian airlines. The second part is operated by Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines.

By Road: The most common land entry point between India and Bhutan is at Jaigaon-Phuentsholing from West Bengal. This is the easiest location to reach from Ahmedabad, compared to the two other entrances which fall on the Assam-Bhutan border. Ahmedabad to Bhutan distance, however, is a little more than 2580 kilometers and thus Ahmedabad to Bhutan by road takes 50 straight hours to reach. One has to cross the entire horizontal stretch of the country to reach Jaigaon, where the permission to enter Bhutan from India has to be acquired.

By Rail: There are no direct rail routes from Ahmedabad to Bhutan. But there are a few Indian stations which are within a drivable distance of the Bhutan border. Hasimara is the closest, only 17 kilometers away. New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri and New Alipurduar and Guwahati are the other approachable stations.

Bobby's 4 days trip to Bhutan

I had specifically asked for 4 star properties and was quoted amount for the same. Lemon Tree thimpu is a 3 star property as per google and other major websites and Lemon Tree manager also said it is a 3 star property. Valley Travels passes it off as a 4 star Property. In Paro we were changed from Tashi Namgay, a 4 star property to tiger's Nest at the last minute. Tiger's Nest is a very old Property without proper plumbing and very far off from Airport as well as city center.

Ketan's 6 days trip to Bhutan

It was a good experience with BINC Bhutan. They provided Good hotels with upgrades wherever possible. All good places were recommended and covered. Very effective co-ordination by BINC team which made the visit very smooth and hassle-free. Some facts not in control of the agents - No role of the compulsory guide-not worth, most of the places have high entry fees (mostly not worth keeping in mind the place). Someone visited Sikkim/North-East may find Bhutan similar to that, so not all places are worth-visiting. Overall good experience. I recommend BINC.
