March - May:

As the season of spring commences from March and lasts till May, this period makes the perfect time to enjoy nature in the valleys of Paro. With a visit to this beautiful location, one can get an opportunity to attend the famous Paro Tsechu festival, spot the abundant bird life, and enjoy an unobstructed view of the peaks.

June - August:

Climate in Paro

Summer Season in Paro

The average temperature in Paro, Bhutan during the summer season hovers around 22°C. The whole spring season and the early summers are the best time to visit Paro Bhutan. During this time, the skies start getting bluer and clearer. The rhododendrons are in full bloom by April. With an average low of 8-9°C and a high of 21-24°C, Paro weather in May and April are simply perfect for a vacation. Being located near the tropics and yet at a lower altitude than the mountains up north, Paro enjoys a typically subtropical highland climate throughout summer. Paro climate during this time is warm and very pleasant for outdoor trips like monastery visits, trekking and picnicking.

Monsoon Season in Paro

Like the rest of the subcontinent, Bhutan faces southwest monsoons during the months of June to July. The relentless showers ensure a humid climate till mid-September at the very least. Monsoons in the mountains are not a very safe bet. There can be landslides and road blockages from time to time, making transportation quite difficult. However, once the clouds go away, the months of October and November are ideal for a visit. Paro Bhutan weather during these two months is the most pleasant. The skies go back to being the blue of the spring; while the rivers, freshly fed by the rains are ferocious enough for a super-exciting session of water rafting or kayaking. With an average temperature of 25°C in September, visitors can enjoy all the outdoor excursions without any fear once again. All the trekking routes are safe, and the climate is brilliant as well.

Winter Season in Paro

Those who can tolerate slightly freezing climate, winters should not be a problem in Paro. Because of its position as a valley and proximity to the river, the wind might feel chillier than usual. But still, Paro weather in December and November gets an average minimum temperature of -1°C only. The only problem of travelling in Paro in December is the visibility. There are sudden fogs and lots of mists which lower the visibility of transportation. Activities like hiking and biking become difficult as well. Snowfall is not really common here, which makes sure that travelling in winter in Paro is not completely off the table.

    • Trip to Bhutan

Travel agent messed up with Bhutan permit. A day was wasted and had to hustle up in line for the permit. Other than that, driver and car was good, guide was a bit less informed. Hotels were good. All itinerary was covered even when we lost a day, and a few extra places as well.

    • Trip to Bhutan

Our trip was good, except for the hotel rules which asked us to return to hotel early. Hotel Tsheringma, in phuentsholing was very bad, the owner asked us to get out of the hotel on the last night, his behaviour was not at all proffesional. During the dinner, the first 5 members out of 15 started first, after 15 mins when the other 10 members came in, we were told that the chicken curry is finished, cannot get more. When we argued that how can 5 people eat chicken for 15 people, then they gave us more chicken. In the morning some of our members did not get omlete in breakfast stating the same reason.
