Best Time To Visit Egypt
Plan your trip during best season to experience the best of this stunning destination
The best time to visit Egypt is from September to April when the weather is cool and pleasant. December and January see the peak season in Egypt due to the Christmas and New Year festivities. It might get very crowded during these months due to a large inflow of tourists, hence it is advisable to book hotels and tickets in advance. Summer season i.e from May to August is very inappropriate to plan a visit to Egypt with temperatures rising to as high as 38 degree Celsius.
March-May (25°C to 35°C):
March marks the end of the peak season and the beginning of excessive heat. There is occasional rain during this time. Temperature is much cooler than what it becomes in the next three months. But do keep an eye out or rather shut, for the famous Khamsin Wind – a minor sandstorm that occurs across Egypt during April-May.
Get to enjoy a Copic festival of Pharaonic origin during the spring season.
June - August (40°C to 45°C):
The month of June experiences the start of the scorching heat, but to see what summer means in a desert country, that too in the greatest desert of the world, one must wait till mid-July. The heat is too much, especially in Luxor and Aswan which are two very important tourist destinations. Even the lower rates of hotel and flight tickets are not worth it because of the extreme weather conditions. Although it is not the best time to visit Egypt, still you can enjoy here in a budget during this time.
Plan a trip during the month of June to celebrate the festival of Ramadan which is also seen as a best time travel to Egypt by many tourists.
September - November (38°C to 40°C):
Heat in the southern cities still remain near 38°C-40°C, but the cities in Northern Egypt gets a little bit cooler than May - June. This is the time when beach activities by the Red Sea and the Mediterranean are very popular.
From scuba diving, snorkeling to swimming with sharks and dolphins, visitors have many options to pursue. Nile River Cruises are also a great way to enjoy the autumn.
December - February (15°C to 20°C):
Have you been wondering about what could be the best time to visit Egypt pyramids. It won’t be that cold, since the whole country has a very arid and dry desert-like climate all through the year, but it does get pretty chilly at the nights. But temperatures do come down to around 20 degrees during December and January in more or less every part, even Luxor and Aswan.
Partake in the West Bank Marathon event held in late January or early February for an altogether different experience.

Egypt weather is sweltering during the summer. For this reason, the crowd is very thin. The hotels are more affordable and is the best time for budget travelling. Since the majority of Egypt celebrates Ramadan for one whole month typically in summer, some attractions can close earlier.

Monsoons in Egypt are very erratic. Usually, no place receives much of rainfall. During early spring Cairo and some other northern parts do receive some scattered rainfall. But there can be a drought for a year and then a flash flood the next year. There is no specific monsoon season.

Suresh's 8 days trip to EgyptIt was an excellent trip, very well arranged. Though the group had a small visa issue due to late delayed renewal of passport, we could still make it and got the visa on arrival without any hassles. Hotels, vehicles, cruise were well arranged. The best part of the trip was the excellent guides, who could explain the little things.
Nnn's 8 days trip to EgyptGreat experience..we were taken care quite well from airport to all visits and back .very responsive to all needs and queries. Will strongly recommend to use their service.i would too
Pavithra's 9 days trip to EgyptHotels in Cairo we're situated very far away. We had to travel 1hr to get into the city for sightseeing. Few of the guides were rude and were in a hurry. The hotel in Hurghada was good. Guide in Alexandria was amazing and accommodating.
Deepanshu's 6 days trip to EgyptAlright! So, finally got to write about the trip. Don’t know how to describe, but the trip was simply awesome. Starting from day 1, started getting some surprises – someone available inside Cairo airport to help with immigration, luggage, currency and finally dropped till cab. This was unexpected. SIM was arranged and handed over to us on day 1 as well with 4GB data – went till second last day of our 7 days trip and then did the recharge. The hotel in Cairo/Giza – actually in Giza, which is the oldest town in Egypt, and it does feel like it, literally, could be improved. Rooms in a 4-star property are expected to be maintained. Had to ask for a room change on first day. The cab driver in Cairo, the tour guides for Alexandria and Cairo, were awesome. Yes, an English-speaking driver would have been appreciated, but since English is not widely spoken in Egypt, we had to manage with Google Translator anyway. The driver otherwise was very nice and interesting person. We were playing Bollywood songs in the last days of the trip – got to know his love for Amitabh Bachchan and he could literally identify the movie name by just listening to old songs of Amitabh sir. Something which could’ve been better as well – on the cruise, the driver was there to make arrangements but wasn’t given a place to be seated. This felt bad on humanitarian ground since we could see him standing outside the hall all the time. Another glitch was one of our domestic flights time mismatch – Cairo to Hurghada as per my records was 9AM, but actually was 11.45AM. This didn’t create much of a problem, but we had to rush after reaching Hurghada coz of our pre-booked afternoon activity. The property in Hurghada was just awesome. Realizing what all one could do just inside the property, I felt to have spent more time in Hurghada. Truly a 5 star experience. The very last day also, had to ask for room change as hotel (Pyramid Park, Giza) tried to give us a twin room. Finally, trip ended very well. Much better than I expected due to the services I received from various people and everything being planned much earlier. A big thanks to Yatharth and Mr Karam for making it a memorable trip for us. Local folks – Mr Ali (local contact), Hanny (cab driver in Cairo), other guides – thank you all. Cruise Dinner with a surprise gift on our anniversary was a lifetime experience.

Pradeep's 10 days trip to EgyptEgypt. Tour agents and services were excellent and very cooperative . Cruise was excellent but service provision inside the Train was of BAD quality. Hotel room provision at Pyramis park was satisfactory and need improvement in quality of cleanliness.. Room lights and telephones were defective and not properly maintained . Dubai hotel arrangement and tour was excelantent however services of tour guide was unsatisfactory and need improvement. All flight booking except Indigo flight for Dubai mum was not good .
