Although during summers, when the snow is removed by India's Border Road Organization, it is open for only 4 or 5 months in a year. This road, however, is very picturesque and one of Manali's most beautiful ways to get there.
By Air
Bhuntar is the nearest airport, situated 50 km from Manali and 10 km from Kullu. Air India is operating a flight from Delhi to Kullu, but there are irregular services and very high prices. From the airport, you can hire a taxi to go to Manali or you can go to Kullu and take a bus that runs on this road frequently.
By Road
From Delhi to Manali there are frequent bus services which are 570 km away. Shimla, Dharamshala, Leh and Chandigarh bus services are also available. You can also book a taxi to go to Manali. Ensure sure the driver has riding expertise in hilly areas, though.
By Rail
Ambala Cantt or Chandigarh is the closest railway station. It's well-served by train, but to get a bus to Manali you'll need to fly to Ambala.
