Day by day itinerary

Day 1: Delhi to Kasol (overnight coach)

Your trip starts in the evening in Delhi. Board an overnight Volvo coach for Kasol, a run of roughly 14 hours across about 520 km. Sleep through the plains and wake up as the road climbs into the Kullu valley along the Beas and then the Parvati. This is the leg that keeps the trip to four days without losing a daytime, which is why the itinerary is built around a night bus rather than a morning start.

Day 2: Bhuntar, Kasol base and the Chalal walk

The coach reaches Bhuntar bus stand in the morning. From here a private cab takes you the last stretch to your hotel near Kasol and Jari, about an hour by road. Check in, rest, and spend the afternoon in Kasol: the market, the Israeli and Himalayan cafes, and the flat stretch of riverbank where most people end up sitting. If you have energy left, cross the footbridge for the Chalal walk, an easy 2 to 3 hour round stroll along the Parvati through pine forest to the small hamlet of Chalal. Dinner and an overnight stay are back at the hotel.

Day 3: Kheerganga trek past Rudra Nag

After breakfast you gear up for the main event. A cab drops you at Barshaini, the trailhead, and the trek begins from there. The path climbs steadily through Rudra Nag, the waterfall roughly halfway up, before the final ascent to Kheerganga. Reckon on 5 to 6 hours of walking over about 12 km, at a pace beginners manage with breaks. At the top, soak in the natural hot spring, which is the reward every trekker comes for, then settle in for tea, snacks and a camp dinner. You sleep the night in a Kheerganga camp under a clear mountain sky.

Day 4: Down to Manikaran and back to Delhi

Wake to the view over the Parvati peaks and, after breakfast, start the walk back down to Barshaini. From there you drive to Manikaran, the Sikh and Hindu pilgrimage town famous for its boiling hot springs. Take the langar at the Gurudwara and, if you like, the hot spring bath the town is known for. In the evening the cab drops you at Bhuntar, where you board the overnight Volvo back to Delhi, arriving the next morning.
