Your 4-Day Manali Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Old Manali sightseeing

After you reach Manali, our representative helps you check in and settle. Rest through the early afternoon, then start a relaxed local round after lunch. You begin at the Hadimba Temple, the cedar-wood shrine set inside the Van Vihar forest, then move on to Vashisht village for its temple and the natural hot-water springs, a Tibetan monastery, and the Manali market. Close the evening with a walk and some shopping along Mall Road.

Day 2: Solang Valley, plus Atal Tunnel and Sissu

After breakfast you head up towards the snow line. The plan runs to Solang Valley, the adventure hub where paragliding, zorbing, the ropeway and (in season) skiing all happen within a short walk of each other. When Rohtang Pass is open and its permit is available, you can push higher to the pass at 3,978 m (13,050 ft) for snow scooter rides and horse riding. Rohtang runs on a National Green Tribunal cap of 1,200 vehicles a day (800 petrol and 400 diesel taxis), a permit fee of Rs 550, and frequent weather closures, so it is never guaranteed. The modern, year-round alternative your driver can take instead is the Atal Tunnel, the 9-km tunnel under the Rohtang ridge that opens into the Lahaul valley. Ten minutes past it, Sissu greets you with a waterfall, a still lake and open snow meadows that stay reachable long after Rohtang shuts. Either way you are back at the hotel by evening.

Day 3: Full-day Naggar and Kullu

Day 3 is the one most 4-day itineraries miss. You drive down towards Kullu to spend the day around Naggar, the 500-year-old capital of the Kullu kings. The centrepiece is Naggar Castle, a stone-and-timber fort now part hotel, part heritage site, with the Nicholas Roerich art gallery a short way below it. From there you take in the Gayatri Mata Gauri Shankar Temple, a working shawl factory, and the old Shiva and Jagatsukh temples. Keen rafters can add a run on the Beas near Kullu. You return to Manali for the overnight stay.

Day 4: Departure

Enjoy a slow final breakfast before you check out. Depending on your onward plan, our team helps you time the drive so you comfortably make your bus from the Volvo or bus stand, or your transfer to Bhuntar (Kullu) airport, about 50 km down the valley. If your departure is late, most hotels will hold your bags so you can squeeze in one last stroll along Mall Road or a cafe breakfast before Manali sends you home.
