Himachal Tour Packages: Overview
Winter 2026 is a snow trip. Solang Valley, Kufri and the road to Rohtang hold snow from late December into March, which is when skiing and snow play run. April to June is the pleasant-weather window for sightseeing and adventure. Whichever way you travel, packages start at Rs 8,500 for a 2 nights and 3 days break and scale up to 10-night grand circuits across the whole state.
Himachal Tour Package Cost by Duration and City
What a Himachal trip costs comes down to two things: how many nights you stay and how far your home city is from the hills. The table below sets the per-person starting fares by trip length (twin sharing, live at the time of writing), and the second table shows how your departure city changes the plan. Every fare is a starting point and is customisable to your dates, hotel category and group size. For the full commercial range see all our Himachal tour packages.
| Trip length | Typical route | Price from (per person) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2N / 3D | Shimla or Manali short break | Rs 8,500 | A quick weekend, first taste of the hills |
| 4N / 5D | Shimla, Kufri, Manali, Solang | Rs 12,000 | First-timers, couples and families |
| 6N / 7D | Add Dharamshala and McLeodganj, or Dalhousie and Khajjiar | Rs 15,000 | The classic full week |
| 9N / 10D+ | Grand circuit or a dedicated Spiti loop | Rs 34,500 | Spiti, offbeat valleys and grand tours |
A mid-range 4N/5D Shimla-Manali trip usually settles around Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 per person, and a full week averages about Rs 15,000 per person. Longer 9 to 10 night circuits that reach Spiti run from roughly Rs 34,500 upward.
| From your city | Nearest gateway | How you get there | Effect on cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delhi | Road (Volvo or cab) | Overnight drive to Shimla, Manali or Dharamshala | Closest by road, more time in the hills, less in transit |
| Chandigarh | Road, rail or Bhuntar airport | Short drive up from the plains | Closest gateway overall, keeps transfer costs low |
| Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad | Fly to Chandigarh, Bhuntar or Gaggal | Flight plus onward drive | Add flights to the base fare |
| Bangalore, Chennai | Fly to Chandigarh | Flight plus onward drive | Add flights, plan an extra travel day |
| Kolkata | Fly to Chandigarh | Flight plus onward drive | Add flights to the base fare |
Every package can start from your home city with flights or trains added into the plan. Browse city-specific pricing on our Himachal packages from Delhi and from Mumbai pages.
Why Book a Himachal Package Instead of Planning It Yourself
A Himachal trip has a lot of moving parts. Which hill town pairs with which, how long the drive between them really takes, and which passes are open in your month. Every package here is a curated collection built by travellers who have made the trip more than once. You tell us the dates, the budget and the pace, an agent tailors the route, and the price, the hotels and the cab are all fixed in writing before departure. That is the difference between booking a package and stitching together six separate bookings yourself.
Bestselling Himachal Tour Packages
These are the trips travellers book most often. Prices are per person on twin sharing and were live at the time of writing. Your final quote depends on hotel category, dates and group size.

Best Time to Visit Himachal Pradesh
Himachal is a year-round destination, but what you can do changes sharply with the season. Here is the short version. For a month-by-month temperature guide see our full Himachal travel guide.
April to June: Pleasant Weather, Peak Sightseeing
Summer temperatures sit between about 5C and 24C, cooler than most of India. This is the easiest window for sightseeing, high passes open up, and adventure activities run at full swing. It is also the busiest season, so book stays early.
July to September: Monsoon, Travel With Care
The hills see heavy rain and the risk of landslides on mountain roads, so this is the season to be cautious. Early monsoon can still work for lower valleys like Kangra and Dharamshala if you keep the itinerary flexible.
October to March: Snow Season
Temperatures drop between about 0C and 13C and the higher reaches get snowfall. From late December through March, Solang Valley, Kufri and Narkanda turn into snow-play and skiing hubs. Pack heavy woollens and check road status before high-altitude drives.
Top Places to Visit in Himachal
This is where Himachal packages earn their reputation. Below are the towns most itineraries are built around, plus the offbeat valleys we know well. Distances shown are approximate drive times.
Shimla
The state capital sits above 2,000 metres and is the classic first stop. Walk the Ridge and Mall Road, ride up to Jakhoo Temple, and take the short hop to Kufri for a Himalayan nature park and adventure activities. A mass at Christ Church and a wander through Lower Bazaar round out a family day here.
Kullu and Manali
Roughly a 7-hour drive (235 km) from Shimla, these two are almost always visited together. Manali is the base for Solang Valley, Rohtang Pass, Hadimba Temple and Vashisht hot springs, with pine and deodar forests and high mountains all around. It is the busiest adventure hub in the state.
Dharamshala and McLeodganj
About 6 hours (224 km) from Shimla, set in the Kangra Valley below the Dhauladhar range. This is the Tibetan heart of Himachal: Namgyal Monastery, the Dalai Lama's residence in suburb McLeodganj, Bhagsu waterfall, and the popular Triund trek that starts right above town.
Dalhousie
A colonial-era hill station about 9 hours (316 km) out, known for its wooded ridges, churches and quiet. It is the gateway to Khajjiar, the meadow often called the mini Switzerland of India, and to the Kalatop wildlife reserve.
Kasauli
A small, green hill town about 2 hours (71 km) from the plains, good for a slow weekend. The Timber Trail, Monkey Point and a walk down Mall Road are the usual stops.
Kasol and Parvati Valley
Around 7 hours (217 km) away on the banks of the Parvati, Kasol is the backpacker capital and the launch point for the Kheerganga and Sar Pass treks, the village of Tosh, and the Manikaran Gurudwara with its hot springs.
Kheerganga
Deep in the Parvati Valley, Kheerganga is reached on foot and rewards the trek with natural hot springs and wide Himalayan views. The trail suits both beginners and seasoned trekkers.
Parwanoo
A hill town on the Haryana and Himachal border, about 2 hours (83 km) up, covered in apple orchards. The Timber Trail cable car and easy hikes make it a soft-landing first stop from Chandigarh.
Kangra
About 6 hours (207 km) away, Kangra is temple country: the Kangra Fort, Kareri Lake and the trails toward Indrahar Pass sit in a green, spiritual valley.
Kufri
Just 24 km (under an hour) from Shimla, Kufri is the easy snow and skiing add-on, with the Himalayan Nature Park and Mahasu Peak nearby.
Khajjiar
The mini Switzerland of India, a round meadow ringed by cedar forest near Dalhousie. Paragliding, horse riding and zorbing run here in season, with Khajjiar Lake and a hilltop Shiva statue alongside.
Bir Billing
The paragliding capital of India, about 7 hours (199 km) from Shimla. Beyond the flights, Bir has Tibetan monasteries, the Gunehar waterfall and a well-known cafe scene for a relaxed couple of days.
Tirthan Valley
A quiet valley in the Kullu district at around 1,600 metres, on the edge of the Great Himalayan National Park. Trout fishing, river crossing, and the Jalori Pass and Jibhi day trips make it a favourite for travellers who want the hills without the crowds.
Spiti Valley
The big one, about 11 hours (413 km) of long winding roads into a cold high-altitude desert. Spiti is snow-capped peaks, ancient monasteries at Dhankar and Key, the Pin Valley National Park and Suraj Tal. Give it its own multi-day loop rather than squeezing it into a shorter trip.
Travellers who want to go beyond the postcards ask us about Jibhi, Barot, Shoja, Sangla, Chitkul, Nako and the Kinnaur circuit. We build those offbeat routes too, which is where a customised package beats a fixed one.
Things to Do in Himachal
Himachal is one of India's most active mountain states, and the activity often decides the town. Here is what to plan around.
Paragliding. Bir Billing is the marquee site, with tandem flights over the Kangra Valley. Solang and Khajjiar also fly in season.
Skiing and snow play. Solang Valley, Kufri and Narkanda from late December to March, from beginner slopes to guided runs.
Trekking. Triund above McLeodganj for a weekend, Kheerganga and Sar Pass out of Kasol, and Hampta Pass and Chandratal for longer high-altitude walks.
River rafting. The Beas near Kullu runs white water through the summer months.
Mountain biking. The trails around Manali, Bir and the Shimla ridges have become a proper draw for cyclists, with rentals and guided descents through the warmer months.
Zip-lining. Solang Valley and the adventure parks around Manali and Kufri run zip-line circuits alongside ropeways and zorbing, an easy adrenaline hit for families.
Camping and stargazing. Tirthan, Spiti and Chandratal offer some of the clearest night skies in the country.
A Sample 6N/7D Himachal Itinerary
This Shimla-Manali-Dharamshala loop is the most-requested first-timer route and shows how a week actually flows. Every package is customisable, so treat this as a starting point.
| Day | Plan |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Arrive Chandigarh or Delhi, drive up to Shimla, evening on the Ridge and Mall Road |
| Day 2 | Shimla to Kufri day trip: Himalayan Nature Park, Mahasu Peak, back for Lower Bazaar |
| Day 3 | Drive to Manali via Kullu (about 7 hours), evening at Mall Road and Old Manali |
| Day 4 | Solang Valley and the road toward Rohtang for snow and adventure, Hadimba Temple |
| Day 5 | Drive to Dharamshala and McLeodganj, Namgyal Monastery and Bhagsu waterfall |
| Day 6 | Triund trek option or a slow McLeodganj day, Tibetan quarter and cafes |
| Day 7 | Drive down to the gateway for your onward flight or train home |
How to Choose the Right Himachal Package
By who you travel with. Couples lean to Manali and Bir, families to Shimla, Kufri and Dalhousie, friends to Kasol and Spiti.
By budget. A 2N/3D break starts at Rs 8,500, mid-range Shimla-Manali sits around Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000, and premium or long circuits run higher.
By duration. 4 to 5 days cover Shimla-Manali comfortably, 6 to 7 days adds Dharamshala or Dalhousie, and Spiti needs its own 7-plus-day loop.
By season. Book snow trips (Solang, Kufri) for late December to March, and sightseeing or adventure trips for April to June.
Start with our honeymoon packages or family packages, and see the Himachal travel guide for full month-by-month detail.
Himachal Tour Packages From Your City
Every package can start from your home city, with flights or trains to the nearest gateway added into the plan. Travellers most often book Himachal from Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chandigarh. Delhi and Chandigarh are the closest road gateways, so trips from there spend more time in the hills and less in transit. From the south and west, packages fly you into Chandigarh, Kullu (Bhuntar) or Kangra (Gaggal) and drive on from there.
How to Reach Himachal Pradesh
By air
Chandigarh is the main gateway with the widest connections, followed by the smaller state airports at Bhuntar (for Kullu-Manali), Gaggal (for Kangra-Dharamshala) and Shimla. From the airport you continue by cab or bus into the hills.
By train
The nearest broad-gauge railheads are Chandigarh and Pathankot. From Kalka, the UNESCO-listed Kalka-Shimla toy train climbs to Shimla, and the Kangra Valley Railway serves the Dharamshala side. Most travellers pair a train to the plains with a road transfer up.
By road
Himachal is well connected by road from Delhi and Chandigarh via national highways, with HRTC and private Volvo buses running overnight to Shimla, Manali and Dharamshala. Within the state, a private cab is the most flexible way to move between towns, and it is what most packages include.
