How To Reach Himachal Pradesh

Read about the best & quickest routes to save time & money, as suggested by our travelers

By Air

There are three domestic airports that connect Himachal Pradesh to the rest of the country. These are located at Kullu-Manali, Dharamshala and Shimla. The airports have flights from Himachal Pradesh to Delhi and Chandigarh. You can conveniently travel via air and get down at the airport closest to the cities you wish to visit.

By Train

The kind of rocky terrain that Himachal Pradesh is located on, makes it slightly inconvenient to construct railway tracks. However, with best efforts, a train does run into the state from Pathankot in Punjab. Travelers can drive up to Punjab or take a flight and then take a train to Himachal Pradesh. By train, it takes only about seven and a half hours long. People usually take overnight trains to Himachal so that they reach feeling refreshed. The important railway stations in Himachal are Solan and Una. There is also a toy train available that connects Himachal to Kalka. Opting for a train proves to be great option as they are usually affordable, comfortable, well maintained and a lot more fun than a flight journey.

By Road

The advantage of states situated in the hills is that you can plan a comfortable road trip. The distance from Delhi to Himachal Pradesh by road can be covered in just about 7 hours or maximum 7 and a half hours. The roads are very well maintained and even during the monsoon season, it is safe to drive up to the state, just needs a little caution. Himachal Pradesh is very well connected to the major cities. To reach Himachal by road, you can hire cabs or even take a bus. A bus journey is usually affordable and comfortable too, as the buses stop from time to time and allow people to try out the hill roadside chai and some local delicacies.

Diksha was our travel agent from travel triangle who planned the iternairy, she was quite flexible to accept our change requests based on my needs. We were given multiple hotel options to pick and choose, she also followed up the entire tour to check if we are doing fine and enjoying the trip. We e
njoyed the trip, the hotels were good with good scenic view as demanded. Food was also very good at the hotels. Only issue is tourist places are far off and you spend more time in travelling . I would suggest to book for 6 night and 7 days incase you are planning for Amritsar, Dalhousie and Dharamshala

Adiga's 4 days trip to Himachal

Very good experience of waiting in Bus Stand for 4 hours. Had informed to book the earliest departure bus to Kashmiri Gate, Delhi. At first 5:30PM bus was booked (in the middle to last row even after requesting to book in first 3 rows). Then the travel agent called and said that they have booked ano
ther bus at 7:10PM as the bus operator is accepting our tickets. Not sure how they accepted at first and then rejected. Also the 7:10PM bus last stop was at Majnu Ki Tila from where there is no Metro. The travel agent is teaching us that both Kashmiri Gate and Majnu Ki Tila are near. But we don’t have a Metro connection to Majnu Ki Tila and that the cab to Airport cost us Rs. 800 instead of Rs.240 via Metro for 2. Also we had booked a flight to Bengaluru. Would the team refunded the flight ticket if we had not reached the airport early? No memories. Just waiting in Bus Stand for 4 hours

Upendrabarnwal's 4 days trip to Himachal

I booked the Kullu Manali trip for my parents as an Anniversary gift through Travel Traingle. It was a 3 Days, 4 Nights trip and cost around Rs. 20,000. The travel agency, Travelpedia, was very accommodative and Mr. Vikas helped with all queries. The Hotel Lotus Inn Rohtang View was spectacular
, provided for a decent stay with great food. The breakfast and dinner was complementary with the package. The Hotel star was very helpful and ensured me parents faced no problems. The cab driver was also good. Though, he was trying to cut short the trip at times due to bad weather. Despite that, he navigated well through the hilly terrain and scenic places. In the end, I'd definitely recommend you to book through Travel Traingle for your upcoming trips. I too am looking forward to another adventure. My parents had got their luggage locked out mistakenly. The Hotel staff came to the rescue and provided required assistance to unlock it. XD

Ankitsingh's 5 days trip to Himachal

Hotels - Hotels were fine and food was good to eat. Cab & Driver - Overall experience was good but at many places driver leave us around 1-2 kms before the places saying that we would have to walk from there but when we reached there, we realised that cars can easily go there. Sometimes there were c
ar parking too. He did this so that he wouldn't have to take the car around. In short he used to show us the places as per his convenience and because of this we used to be quite tired and we missed many places. Service of travel agent - service was good but it can be better. Many times we used to leave hotel in early morning due to driver' s suggestions that we may stucked in traffic if not leave on time. Due to this we have skipped our morning breakfast on 4 days out of 6 days journey. So customer should have an option to choose the hotel with or without breakfast beacuse in such scenarios customer need to skip the paid breakfast and it is loss for us.
