Seven days is enough for this route because you only change hotels twice, and each move does some of your sightseeing for you. The Lembongan night is the difference between this trip and most week-long Bali plans. Once the day-cruise passengers sail back, you have Mushroom Bay at sunset and a slow morning on the island.

6 Nights 7 Days Bali Itinerary from Kolkata

Day 1: Arrive in Bali, Transfer to Kuta

Your driver meets you at arrivals at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar and takes you to Kuta Lagoon Resort and Pool Villas on Jalan Raya Legian. Bali runs 2 hours 30 minutes ahead of Kolkata, and most overnight connections land around midday, so nothing is planned today. Check-in is usually from the afternoon. Legian and Kuta beaches are about a 15-minute walk from the hotel, which is easy to manage on tired legs. Sunset falls between about 6 pm and 6:45 pm depending on the month, and that is the one thing worth staying awake for.

Day 2: Ubud, Tegallalang and Kintamani Volcano Tour

Leave after breakfast, at about 8 am, because this is the long day. You drive straight up to Kintamani first, about 2 hours 15 minutes from Kuta, to reach the ridge before the cloud usually builds, and look across the caldera to Mount Batur and its lake. Coming back down, you stop at the Basanta agro plantation and the Tegallalang rice terraces. Lunch is at your own cost.

Next comes the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud, then Ubud Art Market for handbags, paintings and home décor. Bargain politely. Next is Goa Gajah, the 9th-century Elephant Cave temple with its carved entrance and bathing pools, where a sarong is provided if you need one. The last stops on the road south are Mas for woodcarving and Celuk for silverwork. Eight stops make this an 11-hour day, so expect to be back in Kuta at around 7 pm. If you tire, ask your driver to drop Mas or Celuk.

Day 3: Benoa Water Sports Day from Kuta

You stay in Kuta tonight, so leave your bags in the room. After breakfast your driver takes you to Tanjung Benoa, about 40 minutes away, where Bali's water sports operators work the calm strip beside Nusa Dua. Mornings are flattest, so aim to arrive by 9 am. Parasailing, jet skis and sea walking are the usual choices. Tell your agent what you want so it is priced on your quote, as these rides are not part of the package price. A beginner scuba dive off Nusa Dua can be added the same way, and you will see reef fish and coral close to shore.

Your afternoon is free for the beach or your hotel pool. Want more from the day? Uluwatu Temple sits on the same southern peninsula, and the Kecak dance starts around 6 pm on the cliff above the sea, so your agent can price both as an evening add-on.

Day 4: Catamaran Cruise to Nusa Lembongan

Today is why this package stands out. Check out after breakfast and drive to Benoa Harbour, about 40 minutes from Kuta, to board the catamaran. You reach Mushroom Bay on Nusa Lembongan by late morning, and a BBQ lunch follows. Spend the afternoon in the water. In the afternoon the day-cruise passengers head back to Bali and you stay. Your room at Hai Tide Beach Resort is a short walk from the sand, and the resort's lumbung rooms are built in the traditional thatched style. The island has very little traffic, so dinner tonight is close by, at your own cost.

Day 5: Lembongan to Seminyak

Have breakfast facing the water, then check out by noon. Your quote names the boat, the pier and the time. The catamaran sails back to Benoa once a day, at about 3:15 pm, which gives you more time on the island. A morning fast boat lands at Sanur instead and gives you the afternoon in Seminyak. Allow about 2 hours door to door once you count the road leg.

Your driver takes you to Destiny Boutique Hotel on Jalan Drupadi. Nothing else is scheduled, so this is the slow day of the week. Seminyak's restaurants, boutiques and beach clubs are close by, and our list of places to visit in Seminyak will help you plan the evening.

Day 6: Free Morning, Tanah Lot Sunset

The morning is yours, for the beach, a spa or a last round of shopping. Leave Seminyak by about 3:30 pm for Tanah Lot, roughly an hour's drive once the afternoon traffic builds. Your entrance fee is included. The temple sits on a rock in the sea, and at high tide the water cuts it off from the shore, so walk down early and check the tide before you plan a close-up. Visitors stay outside the inner temple. The best views are from the cliff path, where the rock turns to silhouette as the sun drops.

You are back at your hotel by about 8 pm.

Day 7: Departure from Ngurah Rai Airport

Enjoy a last breakfast and check out. Depending on your flight, you may have time for a walk on the beach or some last-minute shopping. Your transfer then takes you to Ngurah Rai International Airport, about 45 minutes away outside rush hour, for your connection home to Kolkata. Leave three hours before your flight, and add more on a weekday evening, when the Sunset Road traffic near the airport slows to a crawl.

Day 4: Hai Tide Beach Resort, Nusa Lembongan. Mushroom Bay. A small beachside resort with outdoor pools and lumbung rooms, reached only by boat from Bali.

Days 5 and 6: Destiny Boutique Hotel, Seminyak. Jl. Drupadi No. 10, Seminyak. A small hotel in the Seminyak restaurant and shopping area.

Rs 73,999 is the land price. From Kolkata, plan on about Rs 1.16 lakh to Rs 1.40 lakh per person for this trip once flights and daily costs are added, and more in Puja week and at Christmas. The flight is the biggest swing, so your month matters more than anything else on this table.

Getting to Bali from Kolkata for This Trip

No airline flies non-stop from Kolkata (CCU) to Bali (DPS), so you change planes once, usually in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. A sensible connection takes about 9 to 13 hours, and the cheapest fares with long layovers can run past 17. Check the layover before you book, as a late arrival costs you the first evening in Kuta.
