Day 1: Delhi to Shimla, evening on the Mall Road

Day 2: Shimla sightseeing, Kufri and Jakhoo Hill

After breakfast you set out for a full day around Shimla. The drive climbs to Kufri, about 16 km out, where couples can take a horse ride up to the meadow and, in winter, step onto the season's first snow. On the way back you visit the Himalayan Nature Park at Kufri and can stop at the Green Valley viewpoint for wide Himalayan vistas. Closer to town you climb, or take the ropeway, up to Jakhoo Hill and its towering Hanuman statue, the highest point in Shimla, for a sweeping look over the rooftops. It is a full travel day of about 260 km, so you settle in, watch the river and the apple orchards go by, and stop for photographs along the way. Couples who want to add a temple stop can ask the driver to pause at the Kullu Vaishno Devi Temple as you pass through. You reach Manali by evening and check in to your hotel, with the rest of the night free to rest, take a walk down the Mall Road or plan the days ahead over dinner. (Breakfast and stay included.)

Day 4: Rohtang Pass and Solang Valley snow day

Today is the snow day most couples remember longest. After an early breakfast you drive up towards Rohtang Pass, at about 3,980 m, for wide views of snow-draped peaks and, in season, a chance to play in the snow together. When Rohtang is under snow or closed, the trip runs instead through the Atal Tunnel, the 9 km tunnel under the Rohtang ridge, to Sissu village in the Lahaul valley, with its waterfall and the Sissu lake, an easy and increasingly popular winter alternative. On the way back you stop at Solang Valley, the adventure hub between Manali and Rohtang, where you can try a cable-car ride, zorbing, a short paragliding hop or a snow scooter as the season allows. Day 5: Manali local sightseeing and Vashisht hot springs

A gentler day in and around Manali. After breakfast you visit the 16th-century Hadimba Devi Temple, a cedar-shingled shrine set in a quiet deodar forest that is a favourite for couple photographs, then the nearby Manu Temple and the Van Vihar park by the Beas. A short drive across the river brings you to Vashisht village, known for its natural sulphur hot springs and the old stone Vashisht temple, a warm and relaxing stop on a cold day. The Tibetan monasteries in town and the Old Manali cafes are worth an unhurried afternoon, and the Mall Road is the place to shop for Kullu shawls, caps and pine handicrafts before your last night in Manali. Day 6: Manali to Chandigarh via Kullu and Manikaran

After breakfast you check out and begin the descent towards Chandigarh, a long but scenic run back down the Kullu Valley. Day 7: Chandigarh sightseeing and drive to Delhi

Your last morning is for Chandigarh's best-known sights.
