October to mid-May is the reliable window, with calm seas and clear water for ferries and snorkelling; December–January is peak season. June to September is the monsoon prices are lowest but ferry sailings to Havelock and Neil can be disrupted by rough seas. Book early for Christmas, New Year and the April–May summer holidays, when hotels and ferries fill fast.

Indian citizens do not need a permit to visit Port Blair, Havelock, or Neil Island. Simply carry a valid government-issued photo ID. Foreign nationals do not need a separate Restricted Area Permit (RAP) for these islands but must carry a valid passport and complete the required arrival formalities. As the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are part of India, Indian citizens do not need a visa.

BSNL, Airtel, and Jio work in Port Blair and much of Havelock. Connectivity is patchy on Neil Island and at sea. Postpaid connections work best. Plan for limited data during island crossings.
