Shimla Tour Package From Thrissur (4D/3N): Overview

A Shimla tour package from Thrissur starts at Rs 21,599 per person on twin sharing for 4 days and 3 nights, and it is built for the long haul out of Kerala. Shimla, the old British summer capital, sits at about 2,200 m with snow-clad ranges, deodar ridges and the buzz of Mall Road, roughly 2,900 km north of Thrissur. That distance is the whole point of the trip, cardamom-green Kerala one morning and pine-scented hills the next. Because there is no direct flight or train from Kerala to Shimla, this package pairs the fastest air route north, out of Kochi to Chandigarh, with a relaxed single-base stay in Shimla and every ground transfer arranged before you travel. Take the ready 4D/3N plan below or tell us your dates and we will shape one around them.

About This Shimla Tour From Thrissur

Shimla earned its title as the summer capital of British India for a reason. The town is stacked along a ridge in tiers of colonial architecture, from the timbered Gaiety Theatre to the mock-Tudor Viceregal Lodge, and it holds South Asia's oldest natural ice-skating rink, in use most winters since 1920. This 4-day plan keeps Shimla as its single base, so you unpack once and travel out for day trips rather than changing hotels after a long journey from the south. It suits Thrissur families, couples and first-time hill travellers who want real mountains and snow, not a beach or a backwater, and it stays open to changes: add Naldehra, Chail or a Kufri snow day, or stretch it toward Kullu and Manali if you have more leave.

    Package Highlights

    • Snow-clad ranges and deodar-lined valleys around Shimla and Kufri, with snow play and skiing in the December to February window, the change of scene most Kerala travellers come north for.

    • A full-day excursion to Kufri at about 2,720 m for the nature park, horse rides and, in winter, snow.

    • Jakhu Hill and its temple, crowned by the towering Hanuman statue and reached through tall pine.

    • Christ Church, Scandal Point, The Ridge and Mall Road, the colonial and social heart of Shimla.

    • Chandigarh airport transfers plus all local Shimla transfers and taxes, so the ground logistics are handled from the moment you land.

How To Reach Shimla From Thrissur

Shimla has no direct flight or train from Kerala, and Thrissur sits roughly 2,900 km to the south, so the trip is a flight to the north and then a climb into the hills. This is the detail the generic Delhi-template packages skip, so here is how a Thrissur traveller actually reaches Shimla.

    • By flight via Kochi and Chandigarh. The fastest and the standard route. Thrissur's nearest airport is Cochin International (COK), about 50 km and 1.5 hours away by road; Coimbatore (CJB), about 120 km, is a second option. Fly Kochi to Chandigarh (IXC), served by Air India, Air India Express and IndiGo, usually with one stop via Delhi or Mumbai. From Chandigarh, Shimla is about 114 km and 3.5 hours by road on NH5, the leg this package arranges for you.

    • The Kalka-Shimla toy train. The scenic finish. From Chandigarh, reach Kalka (about 30 km), then take the UNESCO World Heritage Kalka-Shimla toy train, which climbs about 96 km through 102 tunnels and more than 850 bridges to Shimla in roughly 5 to 6 hours, with 3 to 4 services a day. It is the most memorable way to arrive and a genuine highlight in its own right.

    • By train all the way. Not recommended from Kerala. Thrissur is a major stop on the coastal railway, but there is no direct train to Shimla and the run to North India takes well over 40 hours, so almost everyone flies. Shimla's own Jubbarhatti airport (SLV), about 22 km from town, has only limited seasonal flights and no Kerala connection.

Shimla Tour From Thrissur: 4 Days 3 Nights Itinerary

Day 1. Fly north and drive up to Shimla.

Fly out of Kochi and land at Chandigarh (IXC), where your package cab is waiting. The drive up to Shimla is about 114 km and 3.5 hours on NH5, climbing past Kalka and the pine belt into the hills. Check in at the hotel in Mashobra, settle in after the long travel day from Kerala, and take a slow first walk on The Ridge as the evening light comes off the ranges.

    Day 2. Shimla local sightseeing.

After breakfast, spend the day on the Shimla circuit: the Sankat Mochan temple, the Vaishno Devi Gufa, the Himalayan Bird Park, the buzz of Mall Road and The Ridge, Scandal Point, Christ Church (the second-oldest church in North India), Lakkar Bazaar for its wooden crafts and the Kali Bari temple. Dinner and an overnight stay are at the hotel.

Day 3. Full-day trip to Kufri and Jakhu.

After a hearty breakfast, head out for a full day at Kufri and Jakhu. On the drive up you pass Green Valley, a photogenic stretch of deodar-lined bends, before reaching Kufri at about 2,720 m for its nature park, horse rides and, in winter, snow. Then it is on to Jakhu Hill, where the temple sits under the giant Hanuman statue at the top of a pine-lined climb, with a stop at Fagu for the valley views on the way back. Return to the hotel for dinner and the night.

    Day 4. Departure from Shimla.

After breakfast, keep the morning for anything you missed, a last walk along The Ridge and Mall Road, a stop at Summer Hill or Tara Devi temple for the views, or quick shopping for Kullu shawls and Himachali caps at Lakkar Bazaar. Check out by mid-morning, and the cab carries you back to Chandigarh airport for the flight home to Kerala. Travellers with an extra day often add Naldehra, with its nine-hole golf course ringed by cedar, or a quiet night in Chail on the way out. Just ask and we will fit it into the plan.

Best Time To Visit Shimla From Kerala

Shimla works all year, and for a Kerala traveller the right month depends on whether you want cool air or actual snow. Here is how the seasons read for a trip out of Thrissur in 2026.

    • Summer, March to June. Peak season and the reason most Kerala families go. While the south sits hot and humid before the monsoon, Shimla holds a pleasant 15 to 30 C, ideal for sightseeing, Kufri and long walks on The Ridge. Book a few weeks ahead because hotels and flights fill fast.

    • Winter, December to February. The snow window, and the biggest contrast with Kerala. Shimla and Kufri usually see fresh snowfall from late December through February, with cold, clear days that are perfect if snow is the whole point of the trip. Carry proper winter layers, which you will not own at home, and expect the odd road delay after heavy falls.

    • Monsoon, July to mid-September. Skip it if you can. The hills are green and quiet, but the region is prone to landslides and road blocks in the heavy rain, and it overlaps the Kerala monsoon at both ends of your journey, so plans can slip. If you must travel then, keep the itinerary flexible.

For a month-by-month deep dive and things to do beyond the itinerary, see our Shimla travel guide.

Things To Do And Places To See In Shimla

Beyond the day plan, Shimla rewards an unhurried wander. The Ridge and Mall Road are the social centre, good for an evening stroll, a coffee and people-watching. Christ Church, floodlit at night, and the nearby Scandal Point anchor the colonial core, while Green Valley and Summer Hill give you the postcard deodar views. For a quieter half-day, Tara Devi temple and Jakhu Hill sit above the town, and Kufri and Naldehra are the easy excursions for snow, horse rides and a cedar-ringed golf course. Shopping runs to Kullu shawls, Himachali caps, woollens and local honey and pickles along Lakkar Bazaar.

Why Book This Shimla Tour From Thrissur With TravelTriangle

This is a customisable package, not a fixed coach tour. Change any day, add Naldehra or a Kufri snow day, upgrade the hotel, choose your Kochi flight or move your dates, and the price re-quotes before you pay. Every stay is a verified partner property, the sightseeing cab is arranged to your booking, the Chandigarh airport transfers are built in, and a trip coordinator stays reachable through the journey, which matters on a long haul this far from home. Cancellation terms are written on your quote before payment, so there are no surprise charges later. TravelTriangle has planned trips for over 40 lakh travellers, and every package is booked through a verified local agent network.

    Booking And Cancellation Policy

A part-payment holds your dates and hotel, and the balance is due before you travel. Cancellations made well ahead of the trip are refunded in full less a small processing fee, a part-charge applies as you get closer to the travel date, and peak-season bookings inside the final window are largely non-refundable. Because your air ticket from Kochi is booked separately, its own airline rules apply to that leg. Your exact refund slab, along with any hotel-specific terms, is written on your quote before you pay, so you see the numbers before you commit.

    What Our Travellers Say

"From Kerala the smoothest run is a morning flight out of Kochi to Chandigarh and the road up the same day, so you reach Shimla with the evening still ahead, and if you want guaranteed snow, aim for mid-January and book the hotel early."

The prices and inclusions on this page, including the Shimla stay and the Chandigarh transfers, are checked by our Himachal desk against live operator rates before every booking.

Ready to plan it? Share your dates and we will send a couple of Shimla-from-Thrissur options built around them. To compare the full range first, browse our Shimla tour packages or the wider Himachal tour packages.

Hotel provided at shimla is barowalia resort, which is a pathetic hotel. initially was promised to give Pahuna resort, but later changed. Itenary provided in the list cannot be completed due to not so super planning, only 60% places can be covered.. Driver is a good person and he is a good gentle
man. after so much of complaints got a better hotel in Manali Varsha Inn a very good hotel thanks to Mrs. Sharma, but the itenary in manali should be planned for 2 days, 1 day is not sufficient, this has to be told to the customer, if customer is having budget problems cover only important places. Because of this creating unnecessary rift between customer and driver, luckily not happened in my case. Neelam is very helpful in co-ordinating things, but as an agency lot to improve.

I had booked Shimla - Manaali six days tour with North India Tours & Travels. From the starting there were trouble with agency. I was asked to contact Mr. Neeraj Negi for driver details. I had followed him four times over phone but he didn't provide the proper details. I got three drivers number an
d had to call all of them to know who will pick me up from Chandigarh. Once driver was fixed, he asked me to leave from Chandigarh early (though I didn't want it) in the morning because he was in Chandigarh that evening and he wanted to return early. when I called Neeraj Negi to know if Hotel room will be available if I reach early, he was blunt and said will you check out early if you are checking in early. Taxi and hotel coordination was his job but I was doing it and he was playing boss role. while travelling to Shimla, taxi driver (Prakash) informed me that he is not from North India tour travel. Taxi driver on day one left without informing. raised the issue on Travel triangle whatsapp group but no help was offer either by travel triangle or Neeraj Negi. During the travel, I had four different drivers (Prakash, Sanjay, Ajay, Raju) and on each day I had to coordinate with these drivers. No professionalism at all. Although, I was informed that I will have single driver through out the tour. while returning from Manaali around 1 PM during the day we were passing through planes (Sundar Nagar, Bilaspur etc) and temperature was 37 deg C and dust outside. requested driver to switch on the AC but he hadn't. this is despite the fact that we were descending from hills or travelling in plane areas. This driver (Ajay) had to pick client from Chandigarh therefore he had asked us to start early from Manaali, which I agreed to. I had to skip the breakfast because of him but when we requested him to switch on the AC, he straight forward denied it. No support from North India tour travel . Only good thing in this trip was hotel in Manaali (Himalayan heights), which is newly built and well maintained. view from this hotel is quite good and it has apple orchard within it's boundary.
