Tips for Kandy Lake

  • Here are a few suggestions that tourists should know before visiting the picturesque and historically rich Kandy Lake. If one plans to travel by the means of a car, be sure to carry a Kandy Lake map. The map will help tourists locate the correct landmarks around the lake, and reach the destination easily
  • The weather around the Kandy Lake might be cooler than usual, so it is advisable to wear long sleeved clothes
  • Do not pollute the river at any cost. The lake is under the ‘protected’ status and may cost the defaulter, if caught. However, no lake should be polluted for the mere reason that it harms the environment
  • Please do not create a ruckus at the Kandy Lake as there are prayers going on in the Temple of the Sacred Tooth situated right next to it.

We had 7 night stay at 6 different hotels. We have asked and paid for 4 star hotel catagory. Thre hotels at Sigiriya, Seeduwa and Nuwara Eliya were not good. The hotel at Nuwara Eliya was of a home stay catagory. Agent should have booked better hotels.

Hotels were good except Royal Classic Resort, Kandy (so worst that I can't describe) and Ocean Edges and suits Colombo (average). We opted for vegetarian food (without egg) hence had very less option to eat at most of the but we managed it any how. Driver was nice and guided us well throughout our tour. We visited most of the famous hindu temples and Ramayana sites in Sri Lanka which was main object of our this Ramayana tour of Sri Lanka. I am thankful to whole TravelTriangle team and Ms. Chetna for arranging and helping us for our tour. Besides few bitter experiences, we are overall satisfied. Best moment was our visit to Bhakta Hanuman Temple and Chinmaya Mission managed Restaurant there. Actually, the meal severed there was pure veg and like prasadam.

We undertook a 8 night Sri Lanka package through Travel Triangle and our agent in Sri Lanka was Discover Ceylon. The whole process from booking to payments, etc were smooth. We were highly satisfied with the package and the agent ensured to provide very good hotel and vehicle with Tamil speaking driver. The owner himself was in touch with us and ensured our comfort. Some places we could not spend time due to heavy rains driving time from one place to another. We would highly recommend M/s Discover Ceylon if one wishes to do explore Sri Lanka

We recently visited Sri Lanka on a trip organized by Steeple Tours, with assistance from Dilini. She was excellent at her job, providing support throughout the trip. The accommodations were comfortable, and the staff was very welcoming. The driver was knowledgeable, showed us great places, and offered helpful suggestions for a smoother journey. However, we would like to highlight two key concerns: 1. **Herbal and Spice Garden in Bentota:** This was our first visit to the garden, and we were unsure of what to expect. Upon arrival, the representative’s initial question was whether we planned to make any purchases. They indicated that they would only show us around if we intended to buy something, as their time was valuable. Although we expressed interest in looking around before deciding, their attitude changed when we chose not to make a purchase. They made disrespectful remarks, insinuating that we couldn’t afford it. This behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable, especially towards tourists who contribute to the country’s tourism industry. 2. **Availability of Indian Food:** Before flying to Sri Lanka, we repeatedly confirmed that Indian food would be available at the hotels where we would stay. Despite this, 4 out of the 7 hotels did not provide Indian food. This was disappointing, as it affected the overall experience. We kindly request you to address these issues to ensure better experiences for future travelers.
