Mumbai is the economic capital of India is connected with the rest of the world via direct and one or two stop flights. But since the target country is on a different continent, the best means of conveyance is flight.
By Air: There are flights from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport of Mumbai to Zurich, Geneva, and Bern – the three major Swiss cities at regular intervals. Air India codeshares their Mumbai to Switzerland flight with Swiss Airways for the shortest duration flight. The air distance between Mumbai and any city in Switzerland is around 6550 km, and a nonstop flight takes around 9 hours 30 minutes to travel the distance. Air is by far the best means, taking convenience, time and cost into consideration.
By Rail: There cannot be any railway line connection from Mumbai to Switzerland for both political and geographical reasons. It is not possible to lay down a railway network across several Asian and European countries. Moreover, there are rugged terrains and mountains in the way, which make it physically impossible. However, the Swiss Mountain Railway within the country is the most ideal public transport to go around the country.
By Road: On paper, there exists land to the land connection from Mumbai to Switzerland, but taking that route for travelling purposes is not a sane decision at all. One has to cross 8483 km approximately; crossing into Pakistan first, then reach the Europe border at Turkey via Afghanistan and Iran and then go through some European countries like Bulgaria, Croatia, and Italy to finally arrive at Switzerland. All the effort and money spent is not worth the trouble it will take, including securing papers for all the countries they will enter.
