Visa Requirements

Visitors, except citizens of European countries, must have a valid visa when travelling to Taiwan, whether for business or tourism purposes. European countries’ citizens, including the USA, Japan, New Zealand and Australia, can travel and stay in Taiwan up to 90 days without a visa. You can apply for a visa at the Taiwan Embassy in India or the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transport. Also, apply for eVisa from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, and Nepal.

Flight Details

For India, there are no direct flights available to Taiwan. You have to book connecting flights to reach the destination. Some of the popular airlines that offer flights to Taiwan are EVA Air, Japan Airlines, China Airlines, Cathay Pacific and China Airlines. Most of the flights to Taiwan will land at Taoyuan International Airport.

Language

Mandarin Chinese is the official language of Taiwan. Other languages are Taiwanese and Hokkien, which are also widely spoken. Mandarin was introduced in 1945 after the World War II era and has been the region's official language.

Currency

The official currency of Taiwan is the new Taiwan dollar, denoted as TWD. Converting sufficient currency is advised for a hassle-free journey. 1 INR is equal to 3.38281 TWD. This currency is commonly abbreviated as NT$ or NTD$.
