Best Time To Visit Bhutan

Imagine that you have a really busy schedule and after being tired of your daily business, you find out some time in order to enjoy and explore the world, to experience some change in your life. You decide to plan a trip, everything is planned out well, but the only thing you missed was to check the weather conditions and you are not able to go out for the trip since the place is totally flooded with water. Even the sense of such a thing happening to someone makes us feel bad for him, but what if the person is you? Bhutan faces seasons that can be classified into categories given below:

  • Spring - ranges from March to May
  • Summer – ranges from June to August
  • Autumn – ranges from September to November
  • Winter – ranges December and February

The climate varies from semi-tropical, which is moreover bearable, to alpine, which is also referred to as mountain or highland climate. Typically there is an increase in temperature of about 7degree celsius per 1000 meters height increase. The climate of southern Bhutan ranges from a minimum of 15-degree celsius in winter to a maximum of 30-degree celsius in summer. Also, the eastern part of the country is typically warmer than the east.

How To Reach Bhutan From Ahmedabad?

Transportation is one of the major concerns when it comes to trips, and this tour of Bhutan from Ahmedabad, there are various transportation facilities available.

Air

Ahmedabad, being the largest and one of the most known cities in Gujarat, provides us with a fairly good amount of flight connectivity via domestic as well as international flights. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International airport, which is situated about 15km from the center of the city, is the busiest airport in the state and it serves the incoming and outgoing of around 250 aircraft on a daily basis. Paro airport is the only international airport in Bhutan. Yongphulla Airport in Trashigang is a small domestic airport that went under upgrades through 2010.

Road

In any country, the roads are the easiest and widely used means of transportation means, especially for traveling close by places. Bhutan has the Lateral Road, which is the country’s primary east-west corridor, connecting important cities of Phuentsholing in the southwest to Trashigang in the east. Being situated in a place surrounded by deep valleys and mountain regions, the roads are extremely dangerous and risky modes of transport. The conditions of the roads are not good enough and the repairing is quite difficult due to the remoteness of such roads. The availability of cabs and booked vehicles are also present which eases out problems related to traveling to hotels from the places that you visit.

Rail

Unfortunately, Bhutan has no railways, though an agreement was signed between India and Bhutan and an 18-kilometers-long, 5ft 6in broad gauge rail link between Hashmira, a city in West Bengal, and Toribari in Bhutan. Hashmira is the nearest railway station in Bhutan. Traveling by rail in the country is therefore not possible due to the absence of a rail network.

For people who love history and ancient monuments, the best places to visit lie in the lower altitudes and thus are advised to visit in the Summer or Autumn when the sun is bright and the temperature is not too low. Also, it won’t rain during this time which makes it easy and safe to use the roads which are pretty risky at the time when it rains since the place is entirely covered by valleys. The monasteries and ancient places related to Buddhist culture is heart touching and gives us a feeling of being blessed by being at such a place.

Bobby's 4 days trip to Bhutan

I had specifically asked for 4 star properties and was quoted amount for the same. Lemon Tree thimpu is a 3 star property as per google and other major websites and Lemon Tree manager also said it is a 3 star property. Valley Travels passes it off as a 4 star Property. In Paro we were changed from Tashi Namgay, a 4 star property to tiger's Nest at the last minute. Tiger's Nest is a very old Property without proper plumbing and very far off from Airport as well as city center.

Ketan's 6 days trip to Bhutan

It was a good experience with BINC Bhutan. They provided Good hotels with upgrades wherever possible. All good places were recommended and covered. Very effective co-ordination by BINC team which made the visit very smooth and hassle-free. Some facts not in control of the agents - No role of the compulsory guide-not worth, most of the places have high entry fees (mostly not worth keeping in mind the place). Someone visited Sikkim/North-East may find Bhutan similar to that, so not all places are worth-visiting. Overall good experience. I recommend BINC.
