Manipur State Museum

Situated near the polo grounds along Kangla roads, the beautiful museum is varied. It houses the portraitures of the Royal lineage of Manipur, their tribal costumes, polo gear (Manipur is one of the many areas of the world that claims the invention of the Polo sport) along with weapons and other tools used by ancient settlement. The largest artifact on display is the 78-foot-long royal boat.

Manipur Zoological Garden

It is a small zoo that breathes with the hefty presence of wildlife. It spans eight hectares and is home to 55 animal species, 420 animals overall, out of which 14 species are endangered and endemic.

Shree Govindajee Temple

Kangla Fort

This has been the Chinese wall of the Manipuris as it has helped them shield off invasions from neighboring states for over a hundred years. The British army was able to penetrate the wall in 1891 during the anglo-manipur war. The area is currently under renovation but it has on its land: An information center/gift shop, traditional boats, small museums, many pleasant gardens with beautiful scenery and lush greenery, eateries, temples and a small cafeteria.
