There viewpoints to watch the entire city from, grand mosques, shopping malls, beaches, local markets and historic forts to visit here, amidst much, much more. A Muscat tour package is the ideal way to go about exploring this beautiful city.

Places To Visit

There are plenty of places to see in Muscat that will surely take your breath away. Here are a few listed below to get you started.

1. Al Jalali Fort

The Al Jalali Fort, also referred to as the Ash Sharqiya Fort, is a major landmark of Muscat. It is a must visit spot for everybody visiting Muscat for the first time. It was built by the Portuguese in the year 1580, to protect the harbor, but was defeated by Omani rebels in the year 1650. It is a must visit on your Muscat tour package from India.

2. Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

One of the most beautiful and grandest mosques in the world, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is a must visit for everybody. It is an imposing character during the day, and at night it turns ethereally beautiful, all lit by fairy lights and made even better by the fragrance of incense in the air.

3. Bait Al Zubair

A museum full of an extensive collection of ancient household items, costumes, jewelry and other household items. For those who would like to see a rehash of the cultural heritage of the country, this is the perfect place to visit.

4. Mutrah Corniche

The Mutrah Corniche is a great place to spend an evening, just loitering around and walking along the beach. There are plenty of restaurants, fountains and shops here to spend your time browsing and eating your way through Oman.

5. Fort Al-Mirani

Another one of those architecturally gorgeous forts that were also sometimes bastions of the last hopes of the Omani forces or even the Portuguese. These were very skillfully and cleverly made, in order to let those inside have a good view without the enemies outside knowing where those inside are hiding.

Best Time To Visit

Muscat, like most other parts of Oman, has a very hot and dry weather, with average temperature during the summers going up to 40 degrees celsius. It only gets cooler during the winter months of December to February, when it is much more pleasant and a cool breeze off the coast lifts your spirits. The day temperature during the winter season in Muscat remains around 30 degrees celsius, with cooler nights.

Summer

The summer season in Oman is not at all a good time to visit the country, due to the excessive heat that might stop you from going out during the day, and might even be too stifling to go out in the evening.

Winters

December to February is the ideal time for you to visit Oman, since this is the winter season here and the weather mostly remains pretty pleasant. You can easily plan a day out, enjoy sightseeing, spend time at the beach or enjoy a quiet meal at the corniche. It is a great place to spend with the family, or your better half towards the evening. Needless to say, this is the right time to book Muscat tourism packages.

How To Reach

Muscat, the capital of Oman, is very well connected to the other parts of the country, via roads and flights. The main airport of the country is in Muscat, which is the Muscat International Airport that offers regular flights to places all over the world, such as the US, India, France and so on. The national airlines of the country is Oman Airlines, however, the country is also served by several other airlines such as Emirates.

The only way possible for one to get to Muscat from an outside country is by flights and by road, since there are no train connectivity and neither is there much sea connectivity. By road, the only place that offers connectivity is Dubai in the UAE.

Rishav's 5 days trip to Thailand

Overall a good trip but certain points need to be taken into notice : (1) That though Oman Air flights are cheap but they are invariably routed through their hub Muscat which does not have any meal options for vegetarians..... (2) that market visits should not be scheduled on Fridays as most shops remain closed (3) that your trip partners Sadi or Arabian nights drivers though punctual but do not accommodate small requests which can be easily met... (4) that the food quality on Desert Safari is bad (5) (1) Visit to Ferrari World (2) JoodsPalace was threat hotel (3) Atlantis thePalm was fantastic

Things To Do

Enjoy shopping at the local markets

The local markets of Muscat are the perfect place to pick up rare items as well as cheap souvenirs to take back home and remember this trip by. You can also pick up apparels and fresh, fragrant spices.

Relish local dishes

Omani dishes are a sublime blend of spices and fresh ingredients, with plenty of seafood to make it all interesting. If you want to really get to know how the locals have their food, then this is the right way to go about it.

Visit the Al-Riyam Park

The Al-Riyam Park in Muscat offers visitors gorgeous views of the harbor. But it is not famous for its views, it is actually famous for a giant incense burner that stands in the middle of the park. It is an ornamental burner only, and was meant to complement the lush greenery in the park.

Attend a show at the Royal Opera House

The Royal Opera House, a gigantic pristine white structure, is where all the major plays and other shows of Muscat take place. Make sure that you have booked tickets for this place in advance, since there is limited seating available and they are liable to sell out if you wait too long.

Visit Marah Land with kids

If you are traveling with kids to Oman, then you absolutely have to visit Marah Land. It is a grand amusement park where a range of roller coasters and other rides await kids and those young at heart to spend some time just playing around. There are regular shows and plenty of other entertainment options as well.
