What You See On A Thailand & Vietnam Trip

A good combo splits into a Thailand half and a Vietnam half, with one short flight in between. On the Thai side you get city and beach; on the Vietnamese side you get bays, old towns and mountains. Here is what most routes are built around.

In Thailand

Bangkok anchors the Thai leg: the Grand Palace and Wat Arun by day, Chatuchak market and rooftop bars by night. Pattaya adds Coral Island and easy watersports two hours down the coast. If you want beaches over city, the Phuket and Krabi leg brings the Phi Phi islands, Phang Nga Bay by longtail boat, and quiet sands at Railay. Families usually add Safari World or Nong Nooch Garden.

In Vietnam

Hanoi is the usual entry point, with the Old Quarter and a day trip to a Halong Bay overnight cruise, the single image most people carry home from Vietnam. Best Time To Visit Thailand & Vietnam

November to April is the sweet spot for a combined trip: dry, warm weather across both countries and calm seas for island days and Halong Bay. February to April is Vietnam’s own peak, so it overlaps neatly. August to October still works if you dodge the heaviest rain and want lower prices. Peak-season combos book out early, so lock dates a couple of months ahead.

Visa For Thailand & Vietnam (Indian Travellers)

Two countries means two visa rules, and they are different. As of July 2026, Thailand allows Indian passport holders 30-day visa-free entry, and the old paper TM6 arrival card has been replaced by the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) you fill in online before you fly. These rules have been changing through 2026, so confirm before you travel. Vietnam is not visa-free for Indians: apply for the Vietnam e-visa online before departure (a single-entry e-visa is the usual choice for a combo trip). Keep six months of passport validity and two blank pages. Your agent guides you through both applications when you book.
